During that Huey legs scene, I experienced one of the biggest tonal shifts I think I've ever seen - torture, followed by a slow pan over to Snake.... wearing the chicken hat :/
Not sure why they bother putting Rorie on there any more, as he doesn't seem like he wants to be there at all. There's gotta be someone who would like to fill a chair on UPF
Did you not watch the live-stream of this show? The audio and stream kept giving out early on (the stream box died according to Jason) so Rorie was busy on his laptop reading chat to see how the stream was going. That's why he seemed more interested in his laptop this stream
Have you even watched any other live stream Rorie is in? This isn't the first time he looks barely interested. He always makes a point of paying half attention, and then always finds himself not knowing what's going on. Asking questions or pointing thing out that have already been answered or discussed ages ago. And that's only when he's not nitpicking on every little detail of a game.
I like Rorie, but often when he's on UPF it seems he pays far too much attention to his laptop and/or chat to the point there is little point being on the stream. When he's not doing that (e.g. when the laptop power runs out), he's usually pretty enjoyable to watch (except when he is being nitpicking, but that doesn't bother me too much).
It didn't need an entire canon story mode that somehow fits into the ongoing plot. (Good or bad, that's impressive.)
Good or bad is obviously subjective, but having played it they obviously committed to this dumb idea and at least tried to make it more than a quick cash grab. It's nothing groundbreaking, but the story mode is a decent length, and ties into the overall P3/4 universe surprisingly well (Minor spoilers e.g. It addresses why they are back wearing their P4 outfits, and Apathy Symdrome from P3 is alluded to). If this were just a cash grab, which it easily could have been, I can't imagine they would have paid so much attention to the story.
BTW, more story opens up after clearing the songs in free dance mode, and it picks up pretty much directly after the Golden epilogue (and after the fighting games). It's pretty much entirely character interactions/fanservice (much like the rest of the game TBH), but I enjoyed it.
Even though I know it'd make zero fucking sense story-wise, I'd eat that up in a heartbeat!
We've already had PQ taking place in the middle of both P3 and P4, despite them being set a couple of years apart, so making sense story-wise is already a weird thing. That said, a P3D with Kimi no Kioku, P3Fes, and Mass Destruction would be pretty awesome.
@fawkes: There is a Brightness setting, which IIRC dims the background effects but keeps the notes fully visible. Should make things a little easier to see if you are struggling (most of the time it is fine for me, but some of the scenes blends with the notes a little too much)
Edit: Just tried it and it dims everything except the notes and the hit area UI. Not how I'd play, but it definitely makes the notes easier to see.
