Doesn't fit exactly, but I completely dismissed the Phoenix Wright games when I first heard about them because a game where you play as a lawyer sounded like the dumbest premise for my then-teenage mind. Then, one day I was watching a friend play it and saw that it was basically an adventure game, so I gave it a shot and now the Ace Attorney series is one of my favourites, so much that I use a reference from the first game as my name and avatar everywhere.

One that went the other way was Fire Emblem: Awakening. I thought it was great the first time through, but on second playthrough I really soured on it. The characters, the relationship and pair-up mechanics, as well as the map designs just weren't on-par with FE7-10.

I think my problem with the whole thing is that I tend to associate Giant Bomb with being genuine, it's why Dan would sometimes rub me the wrong way when he would go full heel. I understand that it's a bit, but it's just not what I want from the site. If I wanted to watch skits and parodies, there's other places on the internet are doing that full-time. I've liked pretty much every other new show, though, so that's a plus!

@hyperlexia: So glad someone brought up Lego Racers! An absolute classic!

Mine is Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. It's an awesome mix of real-time strategy with RPG mechanics for the SNES, where you have an army of troops that you organize into squads of humans and monsters that you can equip/level up/class change, and send them out across a large map to capture cities and defeat a boss. The battles take place when two squads clash, and brings up what looks like a traditional JRPG battle, except you don't directly control your units. Each unit has a set amount of actions that they take, and whichever side did the most damage wins, pushing the enemy back. You capture cities along the way that you can heal up/shop in, and each unit has an alignment stat that changes based on the level of units that they fight (more lawful by fighting higher-level units, more evil by picking on the weak). The alignment of your units that capture cities impacts your reputation, which, combined with a ton of secrets/side content, affects how NPCs interact with you and determines what ending you get (there are 13 in total!). It feels weirdly ahead of it's time, despite the fact that I don't think I've seen a game with gameplay quite like it. I've seen a fair bit of reverence for Tactics Ogre (another fantastic game!), but I wish more people talked about the original Ogre Battle.

I can get a bit of a tingly, uneasy feeling from a large fall in games when I'm controlling the character, but never when watching others or looking over an edge myself.
I haven't tried any kind of heights stuff in VR and am positive that it would freak me right out, given that I have a real-world fear of heights.

At least personally, I don't think there needs to be warnings if content has common phobias, I get really uncomfortable around insects and that can sometimes occur when watching something, but it's never been so bad that it's ruined my day or anything, not as bad as other trigger warnings.
