@Brendan said:

I always assumed that "bombers" was slang-slang for "bomb crew" which was slang for "the Giant Bomb staff".

This was my assumption as well. I vote Duders, Duders.

Mind if I chime in w/a suggested build?

If you want a little extra horsepower out of your PC and are on Newegg's mailing lists (they email codes out with their emails) then you might take a look at this one (I kept the case and the hard drive as I couldn't find much cheaper):

CPU: i5 3550 $209.99 - $10 w/code EMCNBNA39 = $199.99 (Until 8/13)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116505

Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 $134.99 + $7.87 Ship = $142.86

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

RAM: 8GB (4GB x 2) Samsung RAM $44.99 - $5 w/code EMCNBNA25 = $39.99 (Until 8/15)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096

Hard Drive: WD 500GB HDD $74.99 - $15 w/code EMCNBNA24 = $59.99 (Until 8/15)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769

Graphics: XFX 7870 $269.99 - $20 w/MIR = $249.99 + Free Deus Ex & Dirt Showdown (AR)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150604

Power Supply: PC P&C 750W 80+ Silver $99.99 - $20 w/MIR = $79.99 (AR) + Free DVD

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703027

Disc Drive: LG DVD $17.99 - $17.99 w/purchase of above = $0.00

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136247

Case: Antec 900 $96.99 + $12.99 ship = $109.98

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021

Monitor: Dell 2312 23" LED 1080p $179.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260062

Subtotal: $1,124.91 (Includes Shipping)

Discount Codes: - $15, $-10, $-5

_____________________________________

Total: $1,094.91 (Excludes Mail-in Rebates)

Mail-In Rebates: -$20, -$20

_____________________________________

Total After Rebates: $1,054.91

This all assumes that: A) You buy all this within the next week or so (for the codes), B) You already have a mouse and keyboard, and C) You don't pay tax on Newegg / Are subscribed to their email blasts (again for the codes). Overall, a really fast machine for under just over $1k.

If you want to save your money you can swing back to the

7770: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127664

and go with a cheaper monitor:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254098

So your new total becomes: $936.92 + $23.09 Shipping = 960.01 - $5, -$10, -$15 Codes = $930.01. Then after the mail-in rebates it's $895.01.

One reason I'm considering a 3DS XL is the ergonomics. A few anecdotes from around the web (including the Bombcast from Jeff IIRC) noted that the XL feels better in the hands than the normal 3DS. As someone who occasionally gets hand cramps from playing the normal 3DS this facet of the 3DS XL interests me. Plus, I like how comically oversized it looks. Would be funny to play on it in public. Does that make me a hipster?

@Sitoxity: Yeah the early days of the beta were very shotgun-heavy until people learned how to use the Retro Lancer (myself included). The game is quite balanced though and worth the effort; even better when you have a full team communicating.

Yeah, that name... ugh.

However, if the games service is any good I may make the jump from Gamefly. Right now my only beef with Gamefly is the time it takes to get games from them (usually 2 days, occasionally 3) and the time it takes for them to receive my games (usually 3 days, sometimes 2). It's even more absurd considering the distribution center is in Austin, TX (I'm in Dallas, TX). If Netflix can leverage their distribution centers towards this game service to provide games next day for me like they do with movies, I'm sold.
