I'm back on Giant Bomb! They fixed the review form so now I can easily cross-post between GB and my Blogger. So expect more review...

I have like 400 retro games that I haven't played. I look at them and get scared and go back to playing Ridiculous Fishing or some such nonsense.

Not to mention 300 steam games...stupid indie bundles...

Usually I just go back to the "comfort food" as people point out. I think this is mostly because, as I get older, I don't have time to learn a whole new game system, or to invest myself in a game that I know is going to take 80-100 hours (like most JRPGs). Between work and family, what few hours of freedom I get every day are precious, and it's a lot easier to just waste them playing Mega Man X again than trying something new.

Though I did finally install and play Sleeping Dogs after buying it on Steam last Christmas. Now I'm just playing that instead of anything else. :P

Two things I'd try:

I prefer Windex over alcohol to clean it with q-tips. If the connectors have been rubbed off too far, though, you might be boned.

It could very well be the SNES. While the cardboard trick is handy, I prefer to use a combination of canned air and a credit card wrapped in a cloth. You can slightly dampen the cloth if you want with windex, but it works dry. The CC and cloth (if it's a thin enough cloth) should fit perfectly in the SNES. Just stick it in a few times and it should clean stuff off a bit.

I have this same problem with my Gradius III cart and doing those two things fixed it. If not, it could be that the pins are too far gone on the game and you're just SOL. :(

No, but I could see my interest waning if one of them left. Honestly, I haven't been as frequent to this site as usual, maybe because it seems like there's less content lately? Maybe it's just the content got longer (with all the live shows) verses all the quick looks the used to put up.

Regardless, the site's fun because of their group dynamic, and it would be a real shame if one or more of them left, but I'd probably keep coming. Though if Jeff left I'd have to keep following him wherever he went to. Despite the man's hate of Yoshi's Island, dude's got a head on his shoulders.

Ahh, Destiny of an Emperor. That brings back the memories. I always did like the idea that you were commanding massive armies instead of just the unit you see. One thing that I think the game was ahead of the curve on was the large amount of playable characters in the game. Structure wise it felt more like Final Fantasy II (IV) with a constantly changing cast of characters which was pretty unique in the JRPG's that had been released in the US at that time.

I played it quite a bit more after writing the review, and yeah! It's great! It also does have just a truckload of characters, which is also pretty cool. Overall, it's a solid game (Capcom made it, so who is surprised, really?).

I love Kefka to death. Brilliant, never takes orders from anybody, gets what he wants (destroys the world!) and only loses basically because he lets you climb up to his tower and fight him. Plus he's hilarious.

I got the Skullcandy Plyr 2s, which are wireless and only $129.99 (I was lucky and has a 50% off coupon when I got them), and I think they're pretty good. They look kind of stupid, but are super comfy and the wireless works surprisingly well. They also have a pretty good warranty (and Skullcandy is really good at honoring it).

The only downside is Skullcandy has a stigma for selling crappy products. I've heard it hit or miss; most of the time their low-end stuff is junk, but the good stuff (these Plyrs, I have a set of Crusher cans, etc.) have been doing a lot better over the last few years. If you're under a budget, they're at least worth looking at.

Just...don't get the yellow ones. I did because they were the only ones in stock, and they look like a giant bumblebee.

Dark Souls. Hands down. That game is amazing.
Metro 2033 is good and short (usually just a few hours) with some great moments. Also highly recommended. I love that you have to crank your light to power it in that game.

Loved DOTA original, but DOTA 2 is the same game but better and with dedicated matchmaking.

I appreciate LoL but didn't get as into it as I did with DOTA 2. Man, DOTA 2 consumes my LIFE.

For what it's worth, I thought Casino Kid II was a bit more enjoyable and slightly nicer aesthetically. It's still a casino game though.

I never played the second one, but now I'll keep my eye out for it!
