March is a good time to game

Hello all with a bunch of games coming out in march and me waiting for back surgery I thought I would chuck my two cents on the games I have pre ordered.

Games I have pre orderd

1. SimCityHaving played the beta a lot I am really looking forward to this game. The main problems I have with the game are the small city sizes and the always on DRM , other than that the game is horribly addictive and I can see my self losing days to this game.
2. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3It has been a good five years since I last played a Naruto game the main reason is that they are always so behind story wise. This game seems to fix that it looks to go up to were the Anime is and beyond so sign me up.
3. StarCraft II: Heart of the SwarmAs some one who watches the Star Craft 2 E-Sports a lot I am super hyped for this game for the main reason it will shake up the current meta game which has become stale in my opinion. From what I have played in the Beta the new units seem awesome and the features they have added to Battlenet are amazing. The campaign looks pretty cool as well but I am a Protoss player so meh.
4. BioShock InfiniteI wasn't going to buy this game due to BioShock 2 being a big disappointment for me but my cousin gave me this for my birthday march 3rd btw ill be 25 which will be awesome.

I also need to play ni no kuni: wrath of the white witch and Journey which will keep me pretty busy. Any ways that's my blog what do you guys think.

Best of 2012 Back Pain Edition

Hello all yes it is another top ten list I thought I would do this as it has become a sort of tradition for me the last 4 years or so. Also a side not I have been suffering some pretty server back pain the last 4 months so I haven't been able to play as many games this month as it has hurt to sit down but I am now doing physio and feel heaps better and losing wight so I can actually sit at my desk and play games.

First of my pile of shame I will get to in the new year. Far Cry 3 I have a new video card and solid state hard drive coming to play this game on. Max Payne 3 picked this up on sale looks good and last but not least Legend of Girmrock.

Edit : add The Darkness 2 to that pile of shame waiting for it to be on sale.

Now with out further ad due here is my top ten games if 2012

Best of 2012

1. The Walking Dead

This game is one of the pinnacles of story telling in games in my humble opinion. Clementine is the first child character I have actually cared about in a game and Lee is an amazing avatar for you.

2. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

No one does turn based strategy better than fraxis. X Com has the same just one turn addiction that the civ games have. Now 80 hours later I still have yet to beat the game on classic better get back on to that in the new year now if only it wasn't such a buggy mess.

3. FTL: Faster Than Light

This game came out of no where for me having never played a rouge like game before I never expected it to enjoy this much , this game whipped my ass 9 ways from Sunday and I thoroughly enjoyed it from facing of space pirates to agonizing over which weapon or upgrade to buy I would always come back for more. Also we neeed more space games.

4. Mass Effect 3

I wish I could have told my self to wait and have the same experience that brad did with all the DLC. Yet the only one I had was the collectors edition. If I had the same experience he had this would have been my number one game of the year yet that ending :( Still learning about the Geth and Mordins fate were some of the best moments in gaming this year.

5. Torchlight II

As some one who has never like Diablo something in Torchlight 2 just clicked for me. Maybe it was how different all the loot looked or how satisfying the spells were but something about the formula just clicked were it hadn't before.

6. Sleeping Dogs

This game felt like an action movie with a heavy focus on hand to hand combat and stunning graphics plus really good voice acting kept me hooked for the 40 hours or so it took to finish the game.

7. Borderlands 2

I wanted to like Borderlands 1 I really did but between having no one to play it with and the PC port being garbage I just couldn't play it. Luckily gear box has fixed the port this time round and I have been playing CO OP with my cousin I'm about 4 hours and diging it I plan to finish it over the new year.

8. Dishonored

Ahh stealth games a type of game I normally avoid like the plague. Dishonored how ever gives you the tools you need to get the job done I only wish there had been more options for non lethal take downs.

9. Call of Duty: Black Ops II

This has been this first call of Duty I have enjoyed since Modern Warfare 2 and I use the term loosely. But with a unique campaign and complete multi player package I was thoroughly impressed if only us kiwis didn't get screwed on the price on steam which is 90USD sigh I guess you cant have everything you want right.

10. Assassin's Creed III

Why do games struggle to have good endings? Any ways Assassins Creed is as still as fun as ever they need to change up the formula as its starting to get old.

Now thank you if you if you took the time to read this feels good to be able to sit down again.

I hope you had a good Xmas and have a safe new years .

Thanks Time_Lord

Moving to Australia

So I am moving to from New Zealand to Australia in December for work which is the biggest move I have ever done. And it got me thinking what is the biggest move you have done and why did you do it?

Also if there are any giant bombers living in Queensland and would like to show me around that would be awesome I will be living with me aunt who is 60+ so that's no fun.

Build me a Computer

So I it is time for me to build a new PC my current one is 4 years old and starting to struggle to play the latest games that come out here are the specs

  • System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
  • System Model: GA-MA785G-UD3H

  • Memory: 4096MB RAM DDR2
  • Available OS Memory: 4094MB RAM

What I want to do is switch to Nvida and to a Intel chip set I am looking at spending around 3K NZ on it basically I want something that can play all the next gen games on max has a solid state hard drive so it is fast to boot up and a case that is really quiet. I will also be using this computer to stream via twitch and start encoding videos to upload to you tube at 1080P.

The computer I am currently using will be relegated to a media center.

So where does EA go from here?

So now that Mass Effect 3, The Old Republic, Battlefield 3 are out where does EA go with Orgin ? I know I for one will no longer be buying any EA games due them having day one DLC for the most part, and they seem to have burned a lot of customer good will with nickel and dimming everything in Mass Effect 3.

So I was wondering to you plan to buy any games from EA in the future if so what games and why?

I will only buy games from them if they have no day one dlc an it is not an origin exclusive.

So I have 3 weeks of work what games should I play ?

Basically I have 3 weeks of work and need some good games to play I like  RPG's RTS's. I have just finished Dragon Age 2 and as soon as I can get the sound to work In Shogun: Total War 2 I will be playing that.

I play mainly on my PC which can play pretty much everything I throw at it I also own a 360 but the last game I really got into was AC Brotherhood nothing has really caught my  interest since so I'm stumped any assistance would be greatly appreciated .

P.S I am  heavily  into  Star craft  2 watching it though not playing just goes to show you how unmotivated to play game I am at the moment.

I want to get into EVE online

So I am thinking about geting into EVE online the only problem. Is that it seems that once you start you are to far behind I have a friend who has been playing for four years and one for five. My question is this do you think it is worth while to jump into an MMO this late in its life cycle ?
