So wait, what's their justification for straight up Medusa? Are we going with glitches in the animus, the game designers of the animus put in bosses for more appeal after they started straight up selling animus memories as games somehow, lots of those ancient race artifacts that just turned everyone into greek monsters, or have we given up on the historical/animus thing, abandoned all pretense and just agreed that it's more fun to stab Medusa than soldiers?
I remember seeing some Origins on a stream here where the main dude was in the afterlife and shot arrows at a big crocodile dude, too. I'm not complaining, I'm just not sure what page the designers are on here.
The justification is actually that Pieces of Eden (A precursor artifact with great power) create these monsters (IE Medusa). It's unclear if they are illusions or projections, or if they corrupt living people into monsters.
In the Curse of the Pharoahs DLC, Bayek visited different versions of the afterlife, which were all constructed as an illusion by an Apple of Eden, which is a Piece of Eden.
In AC Origins, the player fought against Gods (Sobek, Sekhmet, and Anubis). In weekly events, which were justified as "Animus Glitches".
