@pyrodactyl: First, you obviously like Destiny from your other posts, which means if I have some bias because I "clearly hate it" then you do, as well, which for what it is worth, isn't my opinion. So don't presume.

Second, you're incorrect that it'd be number 10 on their list. If you want to look at the mathematical breakdown assigning points to the games, then it is actually 7, and Wolfenstein is 10, a game which was left out.

Third, that doesn't even matter. The point is that this isn't "mathematical games of the year". It is a discussion about them. Brad provided no counters to the arguments about why Destiny was bad, but rather just broadly argued that everyone's opinions for disliking it didn't matter because he liked it. If you want to start comparing lists, then there were a couple games that were on more lists than Destiny (which was on only two).

I'm not going to sit here and argue with someone who very obviously wanted to see it in the list. In fact, I'm pretty sure you and I have disagreed about Destiny in other threads, so this is a circular fight. But what I am saying is that the rest of the staff abandoned Alex in the discussion and left him alone on an island while Brad sat there and didn't make good counter arguments. It isn't about "I WANT MY FAVE ON THE LIST!" but it is about seeing a glaring issue in the quality of discourse provided in the deliberations and calling out poor arguments.

We come to this site because we all, on some level, respect the staff's opinions. Not agree with, but respect. And when an editor gets a game on the list because they were the loudest and ignores all valuable criticisms of the game, while the rest of the staff sits around and appeases them just to end the discussion they are tired of having, it is frustratingly detrimental to the rigor of discussion we come to expect on this site. And it is a frequent, recurring theme year after year that has been pointed out numerous times. And every year, it gets called out.

You're certainly allowed your argument. But at the end of the day, it isn't our decision to make. This is "their" list. The guys fought for what they believed should be on the GB list, and we have now seen the result. Regardless of whatever you feel, whether they gave up because they were tired... or whatever. This list and its associated discussion was a fun ride to see what games each of them was willing to go to bat for, nothing more in my opinion.

I really don't get why folks take this so seriously. VIDEO GAMES????

I really like MGS 2. It's probably my favourite game in the series right now. But I am expecting MGS V to overtake that easily based on what i've played in Ground Zeroes.

This thread will probably be a horrible mess of people hating on Brad, which I am sorry for because I don't want it to be that at all.

Opinions are subjective and all are valid, but some of the facts glossed over or misrepresented were terrible.

Yep, you were right. For all the vitriol Destiny gets from folks, it also seems to bring out the worst in this community. I understand folks want to discuss and continue to hate on Destiny, but let them have their list, it is literally an opinion that the group came together on by mishmashing a list together by sacrificing games to satisfy others in the group.

  1. MGS V: PP
  2. Bloodborne
  3. Persona 5
  4. Witcher 3
  5. Zelda (assuming 2015)
  6. Halo 5

There are probably some others that i've forgetting. But those are the only ones I can think of for the time being. REALLY looking forward tot he first 3 though. I will also be keeping an eye on the Dark Souls II re-release on PS4.

Couldn't agree more regarding the side quests in the game. SUPER boring and super numerous at the same time. Took me like 30+ hours to get to sky hold just doing all of the side quests I could. Otherwise, I am still really enjoying it. I have encountered a few glitches which have caused me to start from a previous save, but not too often as of yet.

At what point do you take self accountability for doing every single quest in the game? I did the main quests and side stuff on the way, then the inner circle quests and stuff on the side. Then near the endgame, fought every dragon and wrapped up any lingering quests on the way. Had a fine time with the quests doing it that way cus I never bothered with shards or mosaics, etc. And left the rest alone, had power to spare and hit level 20 easily. Side content is optional and people compulsively doing it all and hating it, well that's kind of on you. The collectable quests are there because they're easy to make not because they're fun to do, that's why every open world game has them. Its super easy to recognize "I wont enjoy this" and never do that kind of quest again.

@yummylee phrased it better than I did in my original post. So I thank him for that. And just to be clear, I am not the person you are describing in your post. I am stating that my opinion is that there are too many side quests, and that they are for the most part, hot garbage.

Hmm, a good question. I, like others in this thread have enjoyed a lot of games this year. As far as seeing one as the clear cut best game of the year, I'm not sure. Like others have said, a lot of the AAA games this year weren't the best.

I feel like the only apology that will work for me is for the to not release broken ass games. Just another reason for me to never pre order I guess.
