Just played through the two missions myself. As someone who didn't like Absolution much but loved Blood Money, I am super happy with how this game is shaping up.
So yeah, people in fact are going "YEAH! TUROK!" here in the year 2015. Being entirely divorced from N64 nostalgia, what the fuck is wrong with people? That's among the worst opening level design I've ever seen in my life. The first level in a shooter should be tight and concise, not whatever kind of meandering, drawn-out, aimless mess that was. Holy crap. And people in the Steam reviews are saying such slander as that if you're a fan of games like Doom or Quake you owe it to yourself to play Turok. Insane-talk.
It looks fine. Slow-motion in a game that came out in 1997 is pretty fucking impressive.
I am not sure why everyone seems to like this game. The combat is flimsy and weightless, there isn't much content and it rips off Left 4 Dead a bit too much... you have to draw a line somewhere. Games like Syndicate and Payday managed to be inspired by Left 4 Dead but were very different games.
