Just keep in mind that the first game is a not exactly user friendly. The action can keep unsatisfying, the Mako controls are a tad unwieldy, but the overall game and its scope in 2007 was exciting for a lot of people. Keep at it if you plan on playing the second and third games as their are certain characters that can appear in all three games.
I think the ultimate issue here is trying to showcase an RPG in only a few hours, while jumping around from section to section. For someone that knows nothing about how the game functions or works, I can only assuming that it is jarring.
This does not mean that the game is terrible or amazing, just that Square choose a poor method of PR for their game. Persona and Xenoblade Chronicles would encounter the same problem if they were showcased on Clueless Gamer.
I had the same thought as you about the complaints towards internet and fan reaction. After finishing the video I almost wish that the video was split into two parts. The first dissecting the Disney accusation, and the removal of Lucas. Then a second video talking about The Force Awakens.
Ghostbusters: given how critics gave it the tentative thumbs up, I was genuinely shocked at how bad this was. Cursed with way too much improvisation and way too little thought. The movie was a Pixels-level of struggling comedy just with a more naturally charismatic cast. Miss/ 5
