I am excited - will definitely be getting Y this weekend. Going with Chespin (the grass starter) for this one - after seeing the final forms its just the only correct choice.
My favorites will always be the original Red/Blue. However, outside of that Platinum is pretty awesome. If I just order the different generations, I think it would be this:
By the way, what are the event pokemon that can't be traded through the GTS?
My understanding is that Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect can't be traded over GTS. I think they were the last Gen 5 Legendaries that were distributed through Nintendo Events. I could be wrong on that though - I should check sometime to make sure.
I'm with you in that I know I'll want both eventually, and the argument is really which to get first, and I don't actually think from what we know that there is a wrong answer here.
Honestly, the PS4 is cheaper, and the internet consensus seems to be that if one ends up being more powerful, it will be the PS4. The Xbox One definitely seems like more of a gamble to me, with the new Kinect and their continued focus on using the almighty cloud to do something. Personally, I like what I've seen of the exclusive games on the PS4 more than those on the Xbox One, and I think Sony has done a better job of supporting the PS3 with great exclusive games late into its lifespan, where Microsoft has left the 360 without very much recently.
Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is - if you want to buy both eventually, just get the one that speaks to you more immediately first and don't worry too much about it. Both are going to have great experiences, but for my money the PS4 seems like a better deal and a more reliable investment.
