When I first played the game, I came up with tons of theories. But this one is my best understanding.

The character sees a light fall from the sky. It lands on top of the mountain. Having nothing better to do, the character, filled with curiosity, decided to go explore.

I remember being confused when I saw the tombstone like markings on the ground. We're they graves? Remains of the civilization? In the end, I agree with this the most.

-Its safe to say that all the other tombstones were other journey people who reached different points in their lives and essentially gave up. You being one of the few who made it the furthest to experience more out of life then the others. Especially the 3 tombstones at the start of the game lol-

When I was fiddling around with the controls, I was amazed at how a game so simple could be so amazing. But on to the point.

When I rescued (ish) the dragon like carpet things in the former technology building, I was confused. My best theory is that the former residents saw the magic and wonder in the carpets...and used it to power many buildings. I believe that the huge, metal dragon like things are the result of the corruption...it would also explain the broken bond and the remains if the civilization.

The part that fascinated me most was right before the end. When I was climbing up the mountain with my partner, I remembered trying to sing. Me and my partner would sing to notify each other where we were, or to simply cheer each other up. I tried to sing, as it was our way of saying "C'mon, we can do this."

I remember my fear when I couldn't sing.

Indead, that part scared me the most. That was when I knew that I wasn't going to make it...

I think that the final level (the flying around part) is the elders (the white statues) way of completing our dream that never came true...tricking us into believing that we had achieved our goal, when we were really lying in the snow.

You know how parents set up fake races and purposely lose to make their kids feel good? That's what the death in snow part reminds me of.
