Rogue System was first intended to be financed through a Kickstarter campaign in 2013, but did not successfully reach it's funding goal. However, the developer Michael Juliano single-handedly continued development for it under the company Digits Crossed Interactive (DCI) and, after acquiring a publishing deal with Image Space Inc., the game was made available through an early access program on June 11, 2015.
The developer's goal is to make a space combat simulation with a heavy focus on realistic future ship systems featuring a fully functioning cockpit interface in the vein of Eagle Dynamics' DCS flight simulator series. The game also features accurate orbit physics to perform dynamic maneuvers around planetary bodies.
At launch, it will feature 3 unique ships to pilot and provide various missions to undertake in the single player campaign. DCI also plans to make the game fully moddable to allow the community to create their own content.
