Asked about whether The Cave would be more platformer than adventure game, Ron Gilbert had this to say:
Now this goes along with what impressions like Brad Shoemaker's have been saying that the game doesn't require manual dexterity (even if looks like a platformer), but just adventure game logic. "I wanted to make running around fun. A lot of the old p&c adventure games, you spend a lot of time just walking around from one screen to another. I wanted to do something where it was fun to move."
(0:45) Machinima: "There's also a 2D platforming element to it as well."
Ron Gilbert: "Uh, it's very very light. You're never going to miss jumps."
This might put adventure fans at ease, since this is his first return to adventure games in over a decade.
I just thought this would be interesting, for history's sake.
