    Saturn

    Platform »

A 32-bit game console developed by Sega. Due to development difficulties and the rising popularity of the PlayStation and N64, the Saturn was discontinued overseas in 1998, but continued to sell in Japan until 2000. It was Sega's most successful console in Japan yet their least successful console overseas.

I'm sure more than a few of you remember Sega-Saturn.com by DaveZ. In the mid-late 90s, it was the Sega Saturn site on the net and had a nice cache of reviews, previews and codes. While other sites now a days have more material, Dave's is one of those classic pages that was a major hub back in the era when the Saturn was still alive.

Well, thanks to constant email requests and a bout of insomnia, Dave went ahead and threw it back up at the old URL. For anyone that used to visit it a decade ago, you're about to be clubbed over the head with a heavy bout of nostalgia. Everyone else....well...you probably won't have much positive to say about it. It uses a basic HTML design, there's no real database of any sort, the screenshots are pretty low res, there's grammatical errors all over the place, reviews suffer from over inflation and more.

But you know what? That's just the way it was back then.

Hats off to Dave for bringing it back again. I'm having fun sifting through the release dates and fondly reminiscing about how amped I was for the pending release of games like Panzer Dragoon Saga and Fighters Megamix. Great times, man.

Woot!, that's awesome, I so remember that site.  I could not care less what it looks like, I will still appreciate as a resource for improving my Saturn collection.

I didn't have internet access back then, I actually got my first PC around the time of the Dreamcast's release, but the Saturn is the best and most influential (to me, not the industry) system I've owned to date so it's nice to see this stuff.
