Is it redundant to install the game data when you get the digital download version for the vita?

I would like to know that as well.

I don't think it's redundant. I could have sworn it was loading quicker, even though that makes no sense.

don't think it will do anything worthwhile... your data is already on a Flash Memory stick which isn't going to access off itself faster than it already is (unless it's unpacking itself from a compressed archive file then you might see a slight improvement). It's just a UMD option leftover in the transition to digital version.
