    Shinji Mikami

Person » credited in 31 games

Shinji Mikami is best known as the father of Resident Evil, defining the survival horror genre. He also contributed to other Capcom franchises like Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney, and directed the acclaimed third-person shooters Resident Evil 4 and Vanquish. After working for Capcom and Platinum Games, he started his own studio Tango Gameworks, which has been acquired by Bethesda.

Shinji Mikami now works for... Bethesda?

" Tango Gameworks, the new studio headed up by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, has just been bought by Zenimax Media, the firm which also owns Oblivion developers Bethesda and Doom creators id.

Mikami, whose last project was the just-released Vanquish, will remain in Tokyo with his team, where he will stay on as the head of the studio and take the role of creative lead on "all future projects". Tango's games will be published by Bethesda Softworks, whose most recent title was Fallout: New Vegas. "

Good news for Mikami and his studio. Weird news, too. Like, really weird.

He just put out a SEGA-published, PlatinumGames-developed game, is currently working on a game for EA with Grasshopper Manufacture, and is now working for Bethesda with Tango Gameworks.

The man sure knows how to get around, but so long as he's still working on quality games, then that's all that matters.

Well wasn't he only in a 3 game deal with SEGA? Looking forward to see what he comes out with next.

It was a four-game deal (though there are rumours that it's been increased to five), and the deal was between PlatinumGames and SEGA, not Mikami and SEGA.

Funnily enough, when I was coming back to this thread I stumbled upon this. Kind of unusual how this has worked out, eh?

Edit: So I was thinking about this, and I realized they mentioned the name Tango in that 7 month old article. Could this be more than a coincidence?

I'm pretty sure we already knew that Mikami's studio was called Tango back then.

Oh my bad. I looked over your initial post too quickly and got Tango and Zenimax confused. :P

This is great news! Mikami is clearly talented and Zenimax have plenty of money^^
