Shinki

Overview

Shinki is the Goddess and creator of Makai, the World of Demons. She allowed a tourist agency in Makai to organise trips to the human world, which was the main cause of the events in Touhou 05 - Mystic Square.

She has light-blue eyes and a white hair, and she wears red robes. During the fight against the heroine, she sprouts six white wings, which later turn purple with red markings.

Trivia

• "Shinki" means "wonderful god".
• She is sometimes compared to Satan, as the place where she resides, Pandemonium, was the capital of Hell in John Milton's poem, Paradise Lost.
• Some of Shinki's attacks were replicated in the game Samidare, which was created by Amusement Makers (the team ZUN worked with before forming Team Shangai Alice).
• It is believed that Yumeko and Shinki were the inspiration for the Sakuya Izayoi and Remilia Scarlet pairing.
