On a side note, with the sheer length of this podcast I had some extra time to kill.  Beat Sonic 1 randomly during that last hour, which was a good choice!

I will never understand how so many people don't care that their rights are dying to a million cuts.

So much Dark Souls on this podcast it's amazing. It's nice that Ryan, Patrick and Brad don't just shit on it and throw it under the rug.

Lot of incorrect uses of "literally" this week.

Patrick not liking fantasy as a whole made me think of him differently from now on. To each their own, glad the rest of the crew reacted the way that I would.

Dammit Ryan, why are you cutting down the podcast? I get if there are actual technical quality levels, but if it's honest conversation, on-topic or not, there's no real reason to get rid of it. I understand the need to appeal to a wider audience and keep bandwidth costs down, but then at least put the cut content out as a separate premium podcast or something of that ilk. Hey, maybe that's what Whiskey's in-development multi-podcast tools are for.

Can anyone deduce what Gears horde map they were playing?

Loved the horde story, wish my friends would fucking buy the game already or hurry up with the damn campaign bah so frustrating playing horde with randoms. Also why aren't more people playing beast, holy shit is that stuff fun.

How the hell did it take 4 hours for the first 40 waves of horde? The longest it's taken me to get there with a random matchmaking party is 90 minutes.

Hey, what's with Ryan's "reason's to believe" you shouldn't buy a strategy guide for Dark Souls?

I was debating buying the big guide when I pick the game up next week. I mean, I want to go in cold, and figure stuff out, but if it's anything like Demon's Souls there'll be tons of stuff I want to know for my second playthrough.

FINALLY! a Whiskey Media podcast that talks about Breaking Bad instead of just mentioning it.

I agree with Patrick about the Gears of War 3 story. I didn't really feel anything for any of the characters, and it felt mostly like fumbling around until the very last act. Fun game, but the whole Gears trilogy plot was pretty bland overall.

Petition for Ryan to upload the Bombcast as is. I don't care if it's 4 hours weekly, this has become the only video game podcast I listen to. I CAN HANDLE IT!

Absolutely NO ONE in Texas says it Die-ablo, I'm from Tx and when I moved to California I lived in a town right near Mt. Diablo (pronounced Die-ablo) and I freaking hated everyone there for being so stupid about that words pronunciation. Just saying ;P

I've noticed this too. Every time a beta goes up there's always a snarky jaded person asking accusatory if it's a "real" beta, and the answer is almost always yes. I don't really like seeing that Internet-y bullshit coming from journalists.

God I hate total recall, it scares the crap out of me.

I've only listened to the first 25 mins so far but Vinny recalling their efforts when trying for the horde mode achievement was brilliant. In more and more cases I am finding myself enjoying hearing/watching other peoples efforts more than actually playing the game myself.

For good measure Vinny threw in a masturbating reference too. That's our Vinny!

Vinny, if you want to play as a knight, just block and strafe/run more. Seriously, you don't need to roll that much. Though I love rolling so I go for the lighter classes, but yeah.

I could listen to vinny talk for hours. He seems to come at everything from such a high level and not to be persuaded or prejudiced easily, yet always funny. I'm so glad he stuck up for demon's souls; not because it's the best game of all time, but because it gets an unfair rap for being the most difficult game of all time when it isn't. He summed it up super well and ends making everyone but ryan atleast want to give them game a shot even if they hate it. It really deserves that for how unique a property it is.
 
Also, I wish I worked in an office with a shitload of gamers. I'm caring less and less if the wii-u only supports one pad controller because 95% of my game time is spent alone or online with just like 1-2 friends anyway, big co-op Gears 3 games are completely out of the question unfortunately.

This is mostly the fanbase's and how the developer's fault. Alot of the marketing focuses way too much on how hard it is.

The Kryll were destroyed by the lightmass bomb at the end of the first game. You kill them with light, and that's why they are gone.

I don't agree that people are over praising the story. It isn't dealing with high level concepts, have massive plot twists with complex meaning but it is a well portrayed and written action story with engaging characters. The fact that I care what happens says a lot. Karen Travvis really humanised the characters and fleshed out the universe in the books and that continues in to this game.

Here´s the thing guys: Gears 3 is waaay too easy- even on Hardcore. You don´t die if they hit you with a bow/boomshot/mortar in SP. You just go down. Don´t know why they would do that, guess they just wanted to cater to stupid non gamer people.

I was just breezing through the game on Hardcore and it just made me sad. C´mon Epic, why fuck up a perfectly fine game like this?? Just make people DIE if they get hit with the hard stuff.

Honestly made it frustrating listening to him rant about Star Trek and Quantum Leap later. How does he justify cutting out video game talk and leaving this is? I'm with you though, leave it all in!

@Vortextk: I can perfectly see why someone would think this game is crazy. Me and you are probably way too close to the series to see it in anything but the fan's perspective, but I can see the average person would find it crazy difficult, and not get to the point where you learn from the punishing difficulty so that they can adapt to it, and be rewarded with what I think is one of the best goddamn combat system and world in an RPG ever.

Remember the first time facing the Mindflayers, or the shrine of storm's skeletons? Or the whole of 5-1? They were hard, and I can see quite a few people just being turned off and consider the game "crazy" without learning how to overcome it. Hell, first time through I went to 5-1 after 1-1 thinking that it was world 2 and I was going "wut" the entire time.

The crew have to cover alot of games and probably has alot more games they rather cover so I don't really blame them for thinking the game is crazy especially if they don't have time to really play it through and learn the nuances.

"Masochist" is becoming my least favorite word.

Also, I wouldn't advise you guys to use a strategy guide for Dark Souls. Judging from the guides you see for Demon's Souls, it's going to set you on this completely weird, roundabout path that only makes sense if you've already played it 10 times.

Excellent way to start my day.

@Vortextk: Oh yeah, I can agree with that, though I think Vinny do actually like it, or at least is really fascinated by it. Their discussion of demon's souls is pretty cringe worthy sometimes back then.

It was mostly Jeff though, which makes me a little glad that he wasn't on today.

Patrick summed up my feelings on Dead Island perfectly.

I had fun playing through it, but that was mainly because I was playing it entirely co-op. I have no intention to go back through and do it single-player.

The guy who plays Sherlock Holmes in that TV series Sherlock is voicing Smaug, which is funny because the guy who plays Watson on that show plays Bilbo.

Would have loved to hear that Resident Evil talk that was cut out from last weeks podcast. Mostly Jeff mirth against the franchise and the fact 8-4 podcast is doing a look back on the series.
