Danny, they do make multi-colo(u)r USB packs, I use them in my studio for this very purpose. I am speaking of USB A (M) TO USB B (M) but if you look hard enough, you'll find multi-colo(u)r everything!

In Valheim, Brad could've just used the road tool to get over the river. Building land bridges might be faster.

They did tighten up the controls a bit for Fall Guys a while ago. There is also a whole lot of fun stages to play now. Season 4 starts soon, with a Sci-Fi theme. Sounds cool. I still enjoy the game from time to time.

I was really hoping they would talk about the Sinking City which is in a fascinating shitstorm right now. The developer Frogwares got into a dispute with their publisher Nacon, pulled the game from Steam and then Nacon apparently purchased the game from an online retailer and literally cracked it and uploaded that version back onto Steam to continue selling it.

@humanity: Wow I didn't realize it went that deeply nuts. I always wonder what it was like in those meeting rooms when those decisions are made.

Maybe the crew is waiting for alllll the little details to unfold because it seems very speculative at the moment? I have no idea

@pootpoot2: Well the craziest part about it is that Frogwares was originally technically in the wrong because they were breaching contract by pulling the game and refusing to supply the publisher with the master version despite an earlier court ruling. BUT when Nacon allegedly hacked a copy of Sinking City in order to get it back onto the Steam store, they hacked a Deluxe version which contained DLC mission which were developed solely by Frogwares without any backing from Nacon. So through what I assume is a colossal oversight they are now selling literally pirated content since Nacon has no right to the DLC missions which are now baked into the version sold on Steam.

Bummer that this is a Jan-less podcast. Definitely shows.

I'm enjoying the Outriders demo. The prologue was hit or miss. Maybe its because I've been playing a lot of JRPGs lately, but I'd say the weird script and voice over are on par with them.

I also never believed the cop-out that auto manufacturers won't allow their brands to be seen in a damaged state. Has there ever been solid evidence of this? It sounds like an invention from devs who didn't want to spend a bunch of time and effort modelling deformable assets or crash physics.

So I decided to look this up. Surely such conventional wisdom on the topic has an origin! What I've found in the past 10 minutes of searching is various forum threads stretching back at least 13 years of people asking this exact question and looking for a source on it.

To be fair, it could be that the details of the contracts between devs and automakers are confidential, but one or more automakers have sometimes requested that their cars not get significantly crumpled. Jeff or whoever on GB seems confident over the years that automakers are asking this of developers, so to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he and other game industry press have heard (off the record, over drinks at E3, etc.) that the devs can't crumple the cars but the devs can't ever officially state this in a formal interview.

I could also just believe the whole thing is apocryphal and the automakers don't care, and it's just some rumour based on one misunderstood, half-heard offhand remark from a decade ago that persists whenever people complain that the cars don't crumple. I'm sure all the car crumpling and crash physics on 10-40 cars in one race hogs a lot of resources, and devs are happy to skip it unless their game is Wreckfest.

I haven't played Wreckfest, but as far as I understand, it does not have licensed vehicles. I also remember the old Burnout games not having licensed cars.

While you could certainly argue that these developers did not want to pay the licensing fees to have real cars in their game (especially for Wreckfest, given its relatively small budget), I would agree that there might be something to the fact that manufactures do not want their cars overtly damaged in games.

Yeah, the overall ergonomics and feel of it are fine. It's weird how much Nintendo felt obligated to do weird controller shit for years instead of just iterating on the SNES controller like literally every controller manufacturer on Earth, but the Gamecube controller gets excessive flack from GB despite it mostly being fine. It's a lot closer to a reasonable controller than the N64 and Wii controllers.

The Gamecube controller's 2 major shortcoming are the baffling choice of three shoulder buttons (all future Nintendo gamepads rectified this with the usual four), and that the d-pad is so tiny that it's hard to do precise inputs on because sometimes your thumb hits two directions at once. The only issue I ever had with the face buttons was that Soul Calibur requires you to press 2 buttons simultaneously for certain actions, and let me tell you, having to press B+Y or B+X on a Gamecube controller is not the easiest. Maybe there were alternate button layouts I could've customized somewhere.

I have mixed feelings about the Outsiders Demo. I really want to like the game, as that fun, twitchy PeopleMayFly gameplay is in there. But the almost basic shooting with some abilities kind of reminds me of a third person version of Rage. Which is fine, the Rage games do have quality gameplay, it was everything else around those games that were lacking and I kind of get the same feeling with this Demo. Of course, like Jeff said, there is a pretty long skill tree and unlocking those skills might make the game play as epic as Bulletstorm. But everything else is kind of blah, the presentation is too brown and metallic which was done by design but looks too ugly for my taste.

The graphics aren't so called Next-Gen to answer that question, but its good enough, like last gen on high-ultra settings, and it runs at a smooth 60fps during gameplay, which is the most important to me. If the main benefit for the new consoles is that now you can play games at 4K-60fps with no problems, then it was an upgrade well worth taking from someone coming for a base PS4.

I will finish it, but will wait for a sale later this year to get the full game.. maybe.

Outriders feels like the closest a game has come to "diablo with guns" in that it not only has all the random drops but also its a series of relatively small combat areas/dungeons you can jump into, hell it even has the customizable banners from Diablo 3.

I really enjoyed the demo because it seems like the sweet spot of crunchy stats ala Borderlands but with a way better shooting model.

Arcsys deliberately left features like rematch out of the GG Strive beta to test the netcode and connectivity and servers, so you wouldn't just sit and play the same person privately the whole time (even though some tried). The beta was specifically for testing the online. They also removed things like region or connection based matching so you could be connected to anyone in the world to test the online quality.

As for private rooms, the game modes trailer from last month mentioned Player Match, which was described as rooms to relax and play with friends. The video states it supports up to 9 players with many customizable settings. Assume this is where you'll be doing things like queuing with options like winner stays, rematch, and spectating friends in private lobbies like the rooms in Xrd.

We still haven't seen what the interface for those look like, however. The video only mentions it. It could be similar to the Strive's public lobbies, or it could be more arcade cab style rooms like Xrd or GBVS, or a menu interface style like DBFZ's ring match system inside of the public server lobbies (ugh). No idea until they actually show it off.

Ok now, Lost Planet 2 may not be the best game but it’s still a pretty decent game for say 20-30 bucks. Fun as hell coop. You fight a giant sand worm on board a train using the on board rail gun. Come on. The aiming was always weird in both games and there was the fact they linked like 20 actions to the ⭕️ button or some combination of it. Would be great to see a reboot of the series that looks as good as MH World.
