The people who buy the playdate(myself included) were the kids who played with dumb homebrew games on TI calculators. There's a fun simplicity and openess to this type of stuff. On top of that add in the hardware aspect and I'm all over it. I was sold on this thing when it was announced but seeing the dev tool stuff and software I'm even more excited with the community that builds out of this no matter how niche it is.

I don’t have one preferred topping setup for hotdogs but I think mustard and onions (or sauerkraut) is very reliable. No issue with ketchup on a hotdog, even if I personally don’t ever put it on there.

@allthedinos: this is me on the ketchup thing. People get really mad about it--and it's not my preferred condiment--but we're all eating hot dogs here and have no room to judge.

I was under the impression that AEW Games is the publisher of the AEW game. Guess that division isn't a full-fledged publisher? They've already put out two mobile games.

@btstreleckis: I don't think I'd count on them to have distribution and manufacturing set up for a full-on retail product. If they're going digital-only, then yeah, they probably don't need a "real" publisher.

I think you can make neat & desirable Crazy Taxi & Jet Set Radio games that fit within this definition. These games probably wouldn't be a successful Fortnite-esque forever-game platform, but i think you can make a successful AAA game based on these IP and that seems all they're saying right now.
