I should check out Monster Strike and Terra Battle on my new phone. Never been one for phone games, but it wouldn't hurt to have something handy for when I don't have a handheld with me.

Did my best to talk about DanganRonpa 2 but we ran out of time. I am loving the game, about 10 hours in and it really builds off the mechanics and story DR1 well. At least I got JJ to put in some awesome Castlevania II Gameboy music!

I'm sad to hear people actually agree with the "more cinematic" excuse.

Steady 60fps is ALWAYS better than steady 30. There are no exceptions. It's stupid in film too but it's not like that matters in any way. Games are not film/TV.

The only excuse I want to hear for having 30fps is that they simply couldn't pull off a steady higher amount of fps. Whenever anyone says anything else they are full of shit.

Speaking of dumb things to say, did not the fact that the Bloodborne guy was misquoted about 30fps reach them before recording? He was talking about Bloodborne, not games in general, and FROM are best at 30fps games. Unlock the framerates on DS1 PC or play DS2 PC at 60 and you'll see that shit's broken bad.

I am bummed to hear Mark hating on Resident Evil Zero. That game is alright in my book. I certainly like it more than Code Veronica and 3.

So... True story.

Maybe this is a silly thing, and it is certainly circumstantial, But I was playing CoD: AW and I got to the first "emotional event". And Granted, it is CoD, so asking for emotional delivery is a bit silly in itself. But this went beyond that, it all looked good, the characters seemed fine, but for some reason, the 60fps, made the action very awkward. Something felt artificial and ridiculous. Like it just needed benny hill music to become a full blown slapstick comedy.

I'm normally all for "higher FPS = better" but probably for the first time, I realized maybe 30 could be desirable for a certain aesthetic or environmental effect. And although visually noticeable, does it really affect reaction time, when reaction times are much higher than a frame anyway?

This could be just what we are used to, just like the Hobbit looked somewhat odd at 48fps, or the first all digital hd camera footage weirdness. But my question is, isn't what we're used to what defines an aesthetic? and in that sense isn't it fine to aim for it, even if is less hardware demanding?
