I’m sure it’s more complicated than we know, but why didn’t they use their green screen setup for this? Anyway, this game looks intriguing!

Are the tracking issues just an always psvr always thing or is it an issue with their setup? Hands all jumping around like that and then snapping back looks like when a sensor gets bumped out of place or just poorly calibrated on the rift which is my only reference.

Interesting that they covered this after GBeast already did their stream. More VR shenanigans is always nice though.

I'm sure there's lots of extenuating circumstances in their studio environment, but I have none of the difficulties that GB seems to have when using my PSVR. Don't let this dissuade you from picking one up.

I find that psvr tracking works the best when you completely obscure the controllers from the camera, hiding them behind monitors or under the desk are the ideal solution.

Game becomes a musing on the nature of existence.

Brad: This game is nothing like what I expected.

Me: This game is exactly what I expected.

PSVR is pretty bad in their setup, when I had one it was nowhere near this bad. Their tracking issue is doubly damaging seeing this is a Move controller game. That tracking window is frustratingly narrow even in an ideal setup. Controller games on PSVR are fine though, and it works very well (with much less drift than you see here).

I'll also add that the recommendation for how close the camera should be is too close. If you set it back, you get a little more wobble but the tracking window gets large enough to avoid a lot of moving your hands out of bounds (As was happening here).

Edit: Oh, and Ben is playing. Bens got himself some mega arms, he's going to reach out of bounds very easily.

Why would you play this on PSVR when GB East already covered the PSVR version and you have two better VR systems you can use?

Seems like everyone wondering why they would cover this game on VRodeo isn't taking into account that the GBE Playdate is premium. Plus if you're a new viewer coming to the site and are interested in seeing VR content, it would make sense to cover this game in a free video that can be easily found with all their other VR stuff, i.e. VRodeo.

Grabbed this on PSN after I saw east play it for a little bit. Really fun/inventive game. Short though so if you’re interested in it, just go play it!

I wish I could figure out a way to help the west crew with their PSVR setup.

They're pros, so I'm sure they've tried everything, but I can't replicate the issues they run into at home, and I have no idea how the experiences could be so widely disparate.

@manlypup: Everyone in the east office also has one besides Dan so I think that speaks to how well received it is among the whole crew.

There have not been many VRodeo's in the last year. Hoping they do another one soon like before where they look at a slew of games at once instead of just one game.

I wish they would just use a more reliable VR setup when available. This was suffering and a bad look.

I feel like enough people have vr now with all the price drops that maybe they should get a proper vr setup working again to cover stuff like this, cause this was just painful to watch.

The GBE crew already did this on PSVR. Was hoping to see it on the Vive or Rift. The tracking for this was horrible to watch.

What's the point of this, there's a perfectly good Vinny edition.

(I know, playdates are premium)

I appreciate the vid, but had to turn it off after like 5 minutes. For some reason, watching VR be janky gives _me_ motion sickness when watching, even though I've never had any trouble when playing. Weird!

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like these videos with just one VR game should be considered Quick Looks. VRodeo is a different format, with multiple VR games of various degrees of quality played by Jeff in front of a green screen while two other people sit on the couch (now table).

For what it's worth, I played all the way through this from start to finish in one sitting on my PSVR and had no issues. I don't have a special setup or anything, just playing in my small living room. I also thought it was a really cool game and worth checking out if you have a PSVR and don't seem to have the horrific tracking issues GB often seems to have.

I'd also like to reiterate that I've never had any kind of tracking problems with my PSVR. It definitely seems to be something about their set up that makes it all wonky.

Yeah, even though this wasn't a regular Vrodeo with people on camera, I would think they would want to at least sit Ben down over in that area with a chair and a lav mic so there were no desk problems with the tracking.

PSVR isn’t “this bad” as someone here commented, it’s their setup and how their using it. For the Move controllers and even the headset to work perfectly, the camera needs to see all three at all times. Judging by past videos and this one, it seems like neither the east or west crew understand this.

After reading a few of the comments, I feel I should chime in as well. I held off on PSVR for quite a while based on their videos. They don't represent PSVR well. I bought one this last holiday after the sales, and have had almost no problems with it. It's pretty mind blowing. I don't find it very disorienting, but I do get unusually flush after playing for more than a couple hours. Especially playing Skyrim.

This game is great.. maybe don't use a crappy setup and if you're a larger person make sure to take your time to learn your surroundings.. poor ben seems so confused and lost here it makes an otherwise amazing game seem less than amazing haha Good show as always tho fellas

I got a PSVR kit for my kids and i've tried it quite a few times. Something like that happens occasionally but its not the norm at ALL. I don't know what is wrong with their setup to make it this awkward. Maybe its Ben being an ogre.

This is just a guess, but in the studio they have a lot of stuff that is not expected in a home environment, like green screens, studio lighting etc. My guess is that some of that stuff causes havoc with the PSVR tracking tech.
