Old AVP games got it right decades ago when motion trackers tracked motion. It wasn't just a perfect radar of enemy positions.
If something harmless in the level was flapping around, it would get picked up and beep at you.

I've enjoyed my time with this game so far - the later levels introduce more enemies/etc than the game lets on with in the early missions. Feels like Outriders to me in a sense, probably worth messing around with friends in for a couple of weeks but may not hold you past that.

It feels like you've seen everything the game has to offer in the first couple of levels. Having said that, it looks and plays pretty solid, and that's not something we've gotten from an Aliens action game in a long time. They really seem to have forgotten about the acid blood, though. Would love to see a game where that's a systemic thing and it eats holes in the environment.

This.

Jeff was clearly looking for another survivor horror type of Alien game. Aliens is what this game is accurately portraying. Like the movie, massive amounts of Aliens attack at once and a small team of soldiers have to fend them off.

Alien/Predator fan; I subject myself to every major media appearance and understand the consequences for these choices.

This game... character animations... everything is flat. Feels like the production goal was "functional," not creative or technical risk.

These aliens don't seem terribly frightening. Like, even the way they flutter to the ground after being shot off the ceiling is anticlimactic.

I'm not sure you can make a game that really captures what made Aliens work. Sure, you can do the bit where a team goes in and fights a bunch of acid-blooded aliens, but unless you make it GTFO-hard you miss the point of the movie where the soldiers fail. This game looks like it lacks tension because everyone's mowing the enemies down without much thought. Your buddies aren't getting picked off left and right while you're running out of ammo and they still keep coming.

Maybe if you had a Mr. X kind of enemy constantly following you who is nigh-indestructible and you had to achieve your objectives and get out before it either picks off your whole team or you get overrun by its accompanying hordes? You'd probably have to have way shorter levels, though, or else people would be inclined to leave as soon as they die... Dunno, still think you can't make an game that gets Aliens right.
