I just read a long article about Ronnie O'Sullivan without ever having seen snooker. The more you know.

@dannyodwyer:

Ken Doherty missing the black for the 147 ...still gives me that same feeling in the pit of my stomach that it did then.

Snooker is the most precise sport in the world.

It always amuses me to hear people from other parts of the US pine for Dunkin Donuts. I live in NYC and I can't spit without hitting one, but like Danny said, they're "alright." Nothing special.

As for actual racing stuff, I can't wait to see the Formula E Monaco track configuration. It's a little hard to make out from the diagrams, but it looks like they run down to turn 1 like F1, but then make a sharper right and go down the shore road instead of up the hill, and I guess loop back around at the chicane? So no hairpin and no tunnel. :(

I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I'd never heard of snooker until that one episode of the Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, but it was a hilarious way to learn about it.

Just for the record, Cinco de Mayo still isn't a celebration of "Mexican independence."

This is one wikipedia article that actually has decent citations. Fun activity: Read some of the dispatches to Confederate diplomats regarding British involvement. It gets really pathetic.

Oh funny, I was going to make a joke about the Celtic/Iberian connection based on the title and there you go it's referenced right at the beginning. Though that particular idea was used pretty terribly in real life.

There are actually a couple of colour blind professional snooker players, most of the time they can keep track of the colours based on which spot they are on. But you do get one occasionally asking the referee which is the blue? And then there is the classic snooker commentary faux pas from Ted Lowe in the 70s which went along the lines of "and for those of you who are watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green".

I'd listen to a snooker podcast!

I thought "Ferrari keeping RAI motivated" referred to, somehow, Ferrari keeping up the spirits in the Italian TV channel.

And Fittipaldi is Brazilian, guys. Two-time world champion and first Brazilian to do so, created his own team, probably one of the most important drivers ever.

Also, more Formula Truck!

@ascara89: Yep then they changed it to black and gold and a stated they would race under the name Lotus, even though there already was F1 team called lotus, after a lot of legal kerfuffel did Renault get the right to the name Lotus and Lotus got renamed to Catherham the following year.

I'm watching the NBC Sports Live app on the Apple TV right now, and it looks like you can get everything on there, even the untelevised FP1, FP3, etc. You can also sync it up with the F1 live timing app, which is what I'm doing right now (just to try it out though, probably, I don't think even I'm hardcore enough to watch everything this way :))

You need a login with a cable provider. I could imagine a scenario where someone without cable would feel comfortable using a friend's login... pure speculation of course.

Interesting to read this morning that Alonso's visor tear-off caused his retirement.
