I think it's time for the word "simplistic" to be retired to the annals of cringey game reviewer language.

Man, their sheer glee and enthusiasm for such a small, silly pack in for a new console is getting kind of infectious.

I thought for sure that nothing could make me want to buy into the new console generation at launch but now I really, REALLY find myself wanting a PS5, but alas, seems impossible to find a place where they're not sold out here in Sweden.

@sirdesmond: Holy shit. That game disappeared from memory for me.

@fontelroy: It's almost like there are technical hurdles to doing content from home on consumer internet with consumer level tech instead of the studio they'd normally have outside a pandemic.

This whole thing just makes me feel good. I didn't think I had much nostalgia for PlayStation as a brand, but this just comes across as so lovingly crafted and sincere I can't help but be completely drawn in. I'd love to see them use Astro (Astrobot?) as a vector for cool and unnecessary things like this going forward.

It radiates a sort of polish and reverence for it's history that's usually reserved for Nintendo in my mind. I can't help but wonder, what if Nintendo put together something like this for the Mario anniversary, or any of their major franchise's anniversaries?

At the end of the day, Sony is a bunch of cowards for not making the PS5 main UI theme a playable version of Vib-Ribbon.

Kind of strange to hear these guys, who have been telling people to "just buy a PC" for years, being so nostalgic for the Playstation.

I've never said this and have talked repeatedly about how I still play games on consoles all the time, yet people still attribute this to me/everyone else on staff when it's by no means everyone's opinion.

@brad: Yeah, you're right. It's kind of easy to merge the staff's opinion into one thing, as this generation I occasionally had to defend playing on consoles at 30 fps around here. I plan to have 6 consoles hooked up to my main TV next week!

My brain probably went there just because you seem to know the most about the technical aspects of PC gaming.

The boss they said was hardest was not that hard.. I beat it after a couple of tries (without watching any videos of it).. the hardest boss for me was the final boss. Mostly because it was quite long and, if you die, you have to start over from the beginning.

Anyway, loved this game, easily one of the best of the year.
