So did they just remove women entirely? This has no identity from the first trailers.

A someone who plays alot of BF. This is a really good one. Maybe one of the best. Jeff should take cover more then he'd have a better time and be smart about his squad spawn timing. Its very obvious that Jeffs a COD player by the style of how hes trying to play this, which is fine, but doesnt make for a fun video to watch. But i get it, its hard to play and talk on a video. Team work and patience is key not run and gun. I totally agree about the menu's though. Could be better. No mention of fortification building or the new Grand Ops which is a shame. Both cool new features. As for all the "controversial" one armed cyborg women... all seems to have been removed. The customization is also toned down and more realistic. DICE mustve actualy listened to peoples concerns around the perception of realism. I really hope the Battle Royale mode is a success next year.

@steveurkel: Every class has several male or female people you can choose from.

They very much should have separate loadout options for each side. I hated it when they didn't offer that in the past. That being said, while I would prefer the weapons to be locked to the correct sides as well, I understand that most people apparently don't want that so they should at least have an option to copy over your loadout between sides.

Having the cosmetic options transfer over automatically doesn't make any sense either.

@steveurkel: They still have females, but it seems like they really walked back some of the cosmetic stuff like replacement arms for amputees and such.

I can't believe how bad this game looks on console. Recent console BFs were relatively on par with the main version, other than resolution, and view distance (including lod).

This one almost seems broken. The intro scene of the campaign where you are following Mason through the rocks really shows this. You can hear heavy rain, and everything is wet, but there is next to no actual rain. This is because in the main version, there is a lot of rain, nearly all of which is removed from the consoles (but the sound effects are still there).

It really seems unfinished.

Is this the Hogan's Heroes sequel we need?

@steveurkel: There's still women. Some people were really angry about that so I went ahead and changed all my classes to default to women :P

BF really should have a BR mode.

I hate to be one of those people but sniping with an analog stick looks painful.

But this game looks kinda fun. I'll probably try it at some point, feel like I'm getting way into it, and then never touch it again after the five hour mark, much like I did with Battlefield 4 and 1.

I played a lot of BF1943, BFBC2, and BF3, though, and those latter two on PC when I got the rig to run them.

The one set in Norway seem aiight, as a Norwegian with all of my grandparents being in the resistance during the war I am always glad to see our stories represented, even if highly dramatized. The heavy water sabotage is a pivotal part of WWII. It seems to be set in the wrong location, acted out by the wrong individuals and with the wrong (line-reading slightly lackluster) voice-acted dialect, but HEY, it's cool to hear Norwegian in a AAA game nonetheless. :)

Wow the game seems brutally difficult! Really no place for newbies to learn the ropes without dying over and over due to no offline bots :/

Wow, that campaign looks really terrible. Slow-walking corridor exposition, cutscene, small stealth sequence, cutscene, 2 minutes of a turret section (in complete silence with no musical cues), cutscene, another turret section, cutscene... Shit's straight out of 2008.

That said, nobody in their right mind buys Battlefield for the singleplayer so I'm not too bothered. The multiplayer seems great, and with the removal of 3D spotting I think they finally pulled me back.

This game sure does have a gorgeous ui. Very nice aesthetics.

The thing that made me go "YES!" the most during this Quick Look was right at the end when I noticed that they have brought back the Practice Range (or will do at the beginning of Dec)

All in all, I think I may find myself picking this up at some point.

I've listened to it on YouTube (and it sounds good), but I'm curious how the soundtrack is in the game. That was one of my favorite things about BF1. The only thing holding me back from getting this game is that the war stories are so short. I wish they drip fed war stories as free DLC, or a bunch of them after launch as paid DLC. Multiplayer can be fun, but I don't really play multiplayer so there's not much reason for me to get it in that regard.

Mason sounds a helluva like Gaz/Ghost from the MW games. Could certainly be a coincidence, as he's got a good, British Special Forces-esque voice, but he's also been in about half the CoD series. EA trying to take shots at Activision yet again?

Watching people play a FPS on the controller is always painful.

You can do it. You can also get relatively good at it. But why would you want to do this to yourself?

Hint: there is bullet drop and velocity so aim above/ahead the enemy depending on your distance.

why QL on console?

The days of Golden Eye on N64 are long behind us. People have been playing shooters on console with a controller for ages now and the controls have been good. While your average teen playing Call of Duty can be obnoxious, the weird snobbishness of Battlefield players towards consoles has always been on an entirely different level.

Yea this is definitely a game made for PC.

I'm enjoying it a lot. The one thing I hate though, is the UI. It's way too clean and doesn't fit the theme. Makes me feel like I'm playing Battlefront or something.

That was indeed cool as shit!

BF1 had a similar Single Player Campaign, with cutscenes and voice acting. The presentation is actually quite good. I'd like to see what DICE could do with a SP-focused game.

I usually find it tough to like brutishly thick cockney accents in media but those characters in the single-player mode charmed me.

Don't think I've heard Jeff do a Snake voice before...

This seems like fine Battlefield game, haven't really been deep into one since 3 and a bit of 4, when they went back to WWI and now II I lost interest fast, but something about the look of this intrigues me, not to mention they have included conflicts centred around Norway.

I'm optimistic about the story mission structure after seeing the post-airbase infiltration mission.

Everything Jeff has mentioned from the tech perspective has been in Battlefield 1: not being able to quit before the next match starts, losing data packets. The fact they have not resolved that makes it a real frustrating experience. Nothing worse than waiting for ages to exit a server, or those network icons appearing in the corner.

It's disappointing that the lack of polish in those areas still exists, or is this something that the Battlefield community is used to and does not mind?

Load times are much less of an issue on PC. Presumably faster, but also you just alt-tab and do something else for a minute.

I hate bunny hopping in this game. Weirdly, not an issue in BF! Didn't happen as much there.

I had a bug on the PC version of this game where during the war stories mode my binoculars were stuck at max zoom and I couldn't change it no matter what I did
