Yes! Real Estate time! I'm so glad y'all are taking some time to dig into the businesses a bit. It's definitely a great idea to beef up your character and finances, and a lot of the story stuff that comes from it is pretty fun too.

Alex was a godsend during that Beast training section. Though interesting that Vinny couldn't tell some boxes were red. I found the best method was killing the pistol guys straight off, then using the SMG dudes to break a few boxes (by blocking their shots) before killing everyone. On the later levels I'm not sure if there are enough dudes to break the boxes you need just by hitting them.

@danryckert When a move says it needs "level 3 heat" you just need to be on the third bar (it doesn't need to be full). Though with those Beast moves done from guard, such as the one you unlocked here, you have to hit triangle after being struck, not as the attack is coming in.

I was able to download it by changing the HIGH link from 3200 to 4000. I then pasted that link in Chrome and clicked the download button on the player.

Ah, I guess that's why it won't play in the unofficial Kodi plugin. Also it looks like the video doesn't appear in the Premium category.

@fontelroy: If you left click on high in the download list it will bring up the videos direct page. In the URL is a 3200. erase that and type in 4000 and hit enter. It will load the HD stream. right click on the video and select save as...

@vinny@alex @danryckert: If you fellas take a gander at the abilities menu, you'll see that the Master techniques (the ones you acquire by doing jobs for Miss Tatsu, for instance) are all numbered. There's 1 through 5. You need to unlock them in that specific order. You guys went ahead and upgraded your Beast Style to unlock the Mastery technique labeled "4", before you unlocked the one labeled "3", which is why you couldn't do the job the first time around.

Once you did unlock the mastery ability "3", you were able to do the job for Miss Tatsu. At this point, you could actually go ahead and do one more job after some more training as you also unlocked that "4".

I love this game, but that is a duuuumb system.

Speaking of the ability you unlocked, you only need to be ON the third heat bar, not have it maxed. Just press triangle while blocking after an enemy hits your guard.

One last thing for Dan; I beseech you. You can pick enemies up from the ground while in beast mode by using the grab button, and then throw 'em into other dudes. It's really good!

Some random comments about this episode...

If you want to finish the Shushi place faster, the drug store sells appetite stimulants which basically damage you so you can eat more.

There's really no point in cheaping out on the health items, even the most expensive ones are just pocket change when you're doing real estate. Just fill up on Staminan Royale.

You can get an excellent real estate adviser for restaurants (knife and fork symbol) by going to the bar Earth Angel in the upper right of the map and ordering the most expensive drink. As others have mentioned, there are some interesting substories in that area of town as well.

You can get a bit of money from a questionable guy in an alley in the lower right part of the map for each complete set of three telephone cards (A,B and C for each girl) you collect, but at this point it's probably not worth your while.

If you look at the master abilites on the upgrade screen, they each have a number (one to five). Some of them have to be learnt sequentially.

The catfighting is mostly random bullshit. The main thing is the desrciption of their condition in the scroll at the bottom of the screen, you want to bet on a psyched girl fighting someone who's in the dumps.

Oh, and yeah, the orange just enables that extra move. It was harder to pull off with Majima since Slugger and Breaker have other easy to activate heat moves that kept taking precedence.

Jesus Dan, I too don't want to hear about your or your dad's balls. Alex, you got to stop him. Dear lord.

YES!! My favourite new feature of the site. This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best thing about my Mondays.

Ball stitches made me laugh so hard but I don't know why, normally I'd wince in sympathy but it's just the way Dan blurted it out. :D

Gameplay tips:

• Don't overthink the catfights. They are complete random nonsense (e.g. opponent can do unblockable 9999 damage, which IIRC is a one-hit KO). The event text Dan was reading does hint at the odds though IIRC.
• Dan was misreading the pre-fight information - you only ever have one round per opponent, and the odds displayed are the payouts for a winning bet at that round. Higher number => less likely to win in that round.
• Bottomless stomach should be the priority going forward - you can get the CP it costs back by just going into restaurants and ordering one of everything in a single order, and it make building the friendships much less tedious.
• Buying mid-tier healing/heat items is a waste of time at this point - just buy the highest level stuff that does health and heat. Filling your inventory costs less than 200,000 - you throw more away to avoid fights (related note - you can discard tissues in the pause menu IIRC).
• The telephone club is worth a visit, and the erotic video store has at least one fun substory.
• Don't worry about security/manager ratings - the difference it makes is pretty minimal.
• Don't worry about costs of upgrading buildings - you only upgrade once, but collect the additional revenue every time. Just go for the most expensive adviser if you have two with the same Cross<>Double-Circle rank.
• Alex, seeing as you were wondering, Kiryu does come back to Kamurocho. You eventually can (non-story spoilers) move between Sotenbori and Kamurocho at will, and can change between Majima and Kiryu freely. Side stuff (minigames, substories etc.) isn't missable - even if you pass the narrative point of no return, you can load your save in "Premium Adventure" after finishing the story and continue with the side content without any story constraints.
• The brawler moves you unlocked by dealing with the Leisure King have some decent moves IIRC, but they are rather pricey!

Do wisdom teeth removals usually hurt? I had one out a few years ago, and never even thought about any kind of pain medication (just local anaesthetic at the time).

Also, I'm with Alex - those orbs are green :p (there's already another blue on the board).

More or less what I did as well. The guys with the pistols are the main threat because they pause to target you; the guys with the SMGs just fire at nothing in particular. Just take them out however, then look for the red boxes (just make sure you hit the play money target before taking out the last guy, as that ends the event. Throwing a box ~3 times at a wall breaks it quickly enough).

Another great episode!

Here are some tips for what to do next time:

- The telephone club is worth checking out. It`s different from the substory and is a completely new minigame that is worth checking out at least once. The telephone club is in the south east corner of the map.

- There is a substory in the southeast corner of the champion district (the square of alleys on the east side of the map). It`s one of the best in the game and you will never run by there on accident, so you have to seek it out.

- There is a substory you were inches from triggering several times in the episode. It`s in the same place you started the Miracle Johnson substory and has a pretty cool reward.

As Abby said the Catfight minigame is 100% random bullshit. It`s fun to see once, but it`s a bad and boring way to make money.

Also Dan and Abby were correct. Those upgrade spheres are totally blue.

My reaction when there's a new episode of Beast in the East

This is a great episode. I think Alex should be commended here for being totally on the ball and keeping Dan on task. I really appreciate the effort! Good stuff guys.

Just a quick note, Majima can write postcards into the radio show as well, which is great because his stories are super weird! The radio is in the back room of the cabaret club he owns.

Still really enjoying this series, even having beat the game a couple months ago already. It's cool to see your reactions and see other people getting into the series. It did inspire me at least to jump back into the game to try and finish off the real estate and cabaret club side stories, I'm curious what the payoff is for those (plus the cabaret club minigame is super fun on its own).

Yeah I agree. Alex always does a good job with the story recaps and generally knowing what's going on. Although all 3 of you fellas bring good stuff to the table :)

I hope you eventually go to the phone club. Not the side-mission event.

Maybe it depends on your teeth? I was pretty miserable for a couple days after I got mine removed, but my wisdom teeth were pretty messed up (one was growing in basically sideways, etc).

Man those catfight moves are just straight up heat moves from old Yakuza games.

When I got my wisdom teeth out at 25, I didn't have to take any pain meds either (the surgery hurt way less than the infection that incentivized me to get them pulled). I think it depends on how erupted your teeth are and if they haven't set into bone yet.

Phone club is worth checking out and then it may as well just be about the story. At this point, it's either do the whole Real Estate thing to unlock something (as it's not interesting enough to just dabble in it) or just gen for the story.

Honestly, I all the good side establishment content other than experiencing the telephone club once is now gone. There's a couple of substories I think.

Trainers teaching you new skills is linked to you training the skills that LEAD UP to the locked icon in the skill tree. You learn the locked skills in order from one star to five, so you must learn the three star skill before the four star skill, etc.

The Yakuza games are the most environmentally conscious series in the industry. They recycle everything.

(Mechanics spoiler) And from this game - there's at least a couple I recognised from Kiryu's fourth fighting style [which IIRC is supposed to be representative of his style in the older games]

Just wanted to let you guys know that if you want to see the conclusions to both your horny friends Mr. Libido you have to collect all the telephone cards. So they do eventually serve a purpose. Just something to keep in mind if you guys want to see the end of both of those friendships.

@demoskinos: I got both of those friendships and I definitely didn't collect all the cards. Majima's one specifically, I just got from going in and out of the porn hut to build up another guy's friendship, because Libido kept approaching me on the way out.

Anyway, in regards to the episode, please don't do the next 90% or so of the Real Estate stuff on camera, if you plan on finishing it. They're all the exact same thing and not even remotely worth dedicating ~5 episodes worth of content to. There's some interesting stuff when you're wrapping up the final district, and the reward is worth it, but it's a huge time sink. On top of that, there's still Majima's business which is a huge grind too. Maybe it's just time to bring out those B-Side episodes you were talking about, I dunno.

Go hang out in the Champion District like people are saying. There's actually another quest inside one of the bars there, as well as the (amazing) one in the alleys.

Now that you have the Electronics King unlocked, it's time to go bowling a bunch... preferably off camera since you need to grind out the friendship bar to get to that thing that @alex was pretty intent on showing.

This episode sure is something.

If @ybbaaabby needed a baptism by fire for what working with Dan Ryckert was like, she sure got it this episode.

I kind of lost it when I saw Dan being stingy with his investments on the real estate menu when he should have chosen masochistic man. In this game where you basically make infinite money in the millions and millions I just found it hilarious that Dan would still worry about how much the investment costs.

In addition to everything that's already been brought up (do the telephone club, go back to where you got the miracle story, the substory in the champion district). It's worth mentioning there's definitely an intended order with the billionaires based on how much the properties cost. You're going to want to go electronics->pleasure->gambling. Media is locked until you finish those 3.

Bringing it up so hopefully the GB people see it: if a video is posted without an HD download link, Giant Bomb Video Buddy will not allow the video to be downloaded under any quality setting. Makes it so people like me, who need to download it on iOS and can't stream, have to wait. Which is ok, but it would be nice to have an eta when this happens. Right now it seems like you guys don't know this happened.

It is always more disappointing in such an otherwise neat game.

I love how Dan says "I know about that" when the tooltip said how to pick up boxes while attacking, and then proceeded to use the circle button again on the next try, Lol.

Because nobody posted about it in the Bug Reporting forum. Which I've now done.
