I'm really excited for this feature. Although, from what I remember, Megaman 1 isn't very good. Glad that Alex is getting his own primary feature.

Eh, maybe the nostalgia bug never bites me as hard as others but I wanna see Gbeast play some modern/crazy/open world or adventure games again instead of another long series of old platformers on top of Vinnyvania.

Gbeast best content has been the Until Dawn, Life is Strange, Contradiction, Kerbal stuff and that type of stuff has been sorely lacking for a while now. Unless you're obsessed with nostalgia, I just don't think old 2nd platformers are very entertaining or suit their particular brand of humor, especially Vinny who loves to break adventure/open world/story based/FMV games. Only so much you can do with an old 2D platformer besides like.. go forward and jump. Can't really impart your own particular style of gaming/humor on such straightforward platforming games, like Vinny does gloriously in more open or story based games like Kerbal and the other games mentioned.

O well, just one man's opinion.. guess I'll wait and hope Dan brings back some of this crazier/fresher type of content to Gbeast, maybe they feel limited with what they can do with 2 people.

See I think it's just opinion. I don't think you need nostalgia for this or vinnyvania at all. The fun comes from watching them play an incredibly hard series. Which is why we all knew when Vinny got to Symphony of the Night it wouldn't be AS amazing as the other videos. The game was more modern, but wasn't really hard at all.

Megan Man 1 seems part evil genius, part sadistic psycho, part genuine hellscape.

I'm glad I starting watching this. I started that the Fireman level and had to quit out of frustration.

Love the series nonetheless.

I don't care that much for Megaman, but I could listen to Vinny and Alex chatting all day.

It IS a helmet! Don't you remember atop the building in the Mega Man 2 intro, hair waving about?

EDIT: Spoke too soon. Go Vinny!

EDIT 2: Alex saying Fade to Black and For Whom The Bell Tolls are from the Black Album is probably the most disappointed I've ever been in a GB member.

I’m playing through the first one for the first time and I admit I couldn’t do it without the save state features in the Legacy Collection. Fight me

I just have to say:

I've been a gamer since I was a wee lad in the 70's, I've owned and played just about every system, and LOVED the NES. However, I never purchased any of the MegaMan games over the course of me owning an NES.

I read about them in video game magazines and wanted to play them, just never got around to it.

At some point in the 90's or maybe early 2000's I got some Windows PC game collection and it had some MegaMan game in it and I tried it then, which also lead me to trying it finally on the NES. That said, I never knew anything about the bosses and what order to play them in, I just knew they were a pain in the ass and I could never beat any of them. I always thought I would just look the boss order up and play them... eventually.

Fast forward to the "new" MegaMan 9 and 10 games being released, I purchased them as I love retro games, etc. Booted them up and never was able to beat a boss, so... backburner.

Then came the new collections that had 1-8 on them, so I purchased those, and gave MM1 a shot again, still nothing going on beating a boss.

ALL THIS being said, I just have to say... watching Alex play through these games makes me NEVER want to play one, ever.

I'm not even sure why these games are highly regarded classics. They are the cheapest, most terribly designed games I think I have ever seen. They are not even hard because they are hard, they are impossibly hard because they are designed so fucking poorly.

So, thanks Alex from saving me the time and frustration of playing these lame-ass games.

This seems like the perfect thing to rewatch while finally building my NES Lego set.
