I don't even know where to start. So I'll start here:

Ryo is in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. In both games. First game as a normal character, second one as DLC (how does that make any sense?).

I won't get into Mega Man lore here, mostly because I don't think any of them actually want to know when Mega Man Legends takes place.

I'm pretty sure I remember Knuckles digging and climbing in Sonic Adventure 2.

There are definitely story elements connecting the original Mega Man series to X and X to Zero. I'm pretty sure ZX is supposed to take place in the future of Zero and Legends is supposed to take place far (very, very, very, very far) in the future of ZX, but I'm not a hundred percent sure on that one because I haven't played these games in a long time. I don't think Battle Network and that DS spin off of Battle Network have anything to do with the other series.

I've simply never had the patience for Megaman games, despite my general love for difficult games. So this series has been a fantastic way for me to get the Megaman experience without having to deal with the stress of playing them myself. Thanks to Alex for playing, and thanks to the entire crew for the great commentary and banter.

I never really played Mega Man Zero 1 or 2 but Zero 3 is my second favorite Mega Man game behind X1. It is so fucking good. The X series went downhill fast and then I played Zero 3 and I was like "this is where the X series should have gone".

I recently thought about replaying Maverick Hunter X, but Zero 3 really is so fucking good. A huge, epic end to the trilogy, with 4 feeling kind of unnecessary.

Watching these old games and how much bullshit is in them caused me to shelve the Collection, but I have the X collection along with Zero so I gotta get back into some Mega Man.

I THINK that Dan is joking when he says there's no magic in Metal Gear. If not I would remind him that you use magic dolls in 4 to shoot ghosts at people. Also that beeman makes a Tommy gun out of bees.

Hey! The Sonic comics are rad. Admittedly, the original run was probably too serious and read like fan fiction, but the relaunch from a few years ago that got the continuity more in line with the games is really fun. Also, the Archie Mega Man series was great. Sadly, it was put on hiatus.

I'm pretty sure Alex is using a turbo button throughout this, due to how he always fires three bullets at a time and struggled with that one timing segment in Gemini Man's level. This was never disclaimed. I demand a refund on my membership!

I know absolutely nothing about Megaman lore, but according to "The Protomen" albums, Light was working with Wiley trying to better mankind, and created a "robot" WIley figures tjat if he changes them he can basiclaly enslave humanity, so he kills some people and shit goes down.

Dan's stance on education explains most of his comments in many previous videos. Also the ease of his film studies degree has nothing to do with the subject and everything to do with the quality of the institution.

OK that sounds a bit more mean-spirited than I intended, but I teach film studies and it's frustrating how every class we have to explain, yes you have to do work here and it's not just watching movies for an A, and no you can't make a video to get credit instead of writing a paper

The most climactic scene in Seven takes place in the desert, it's definitely not New York.

Also Los Angeles has plenty of trains. Union Station in downtown Los Angeles is the largest passenger rail station in the western United States

IIRC the ghosts only work on people with nanomachines in them. Which is why you can counteract them with the syringe during that boss fight. The implication is that this is not magic.

The space whale stuff in MGSV surely was magic though.

"...Planescape Torment, which is pretty awesome."

@vinny! Them's fighting words. Planescape Torment is goddamn amazing. That's at least three steps higher.

I'm a $200 Kickstarter backer on Torment: Tides of Numenera and I haven't TOUCHED any of the betas and alphas or any of the supplementary material. February 28th can't come soon enough! :D

"Explain the MG story in 2 minutes"

Calls Naked Snake, Big Boss within 10 seconds. Can't be bothered to talk about Venom nor the Peace Walker incident. Then goes on to explain MGS3's story and G/M/S/T of MGS 1-4. XD Dan truly is odd when it comes to his favorite series.

Regarding the Hero's Journey, one of the most interesting classes I took in college was about examining folklore around the world. There's like this index of tropes that covers myths, legends, and stories from different cultures. It was pretty cool to see all the commonalities, really reinforced how similar we all are as human beings.

If you want some stuff on Mega Man lore, I highly recommend reading the Archie Comics series. They're top-notch adaptations of the original stories with a few new bits to keep things interesting. They're made for a general audience, but display a deep reverence for the source material.
