Very nearly 2 hours of Brad sloshing around in toilet water filled with slugs and demon fetuses.

Is this 12th part of 100 episodes Brad has once again enter the world of survival horror good luck not to Brad...but to the viewer.

I watched it live, just gotta say. This is one of my favorite features on the site. I never had the privledge of playing demons souls since i don't have a PS3. Dark Souls is one of my favorite games of the last generation. So this has been a treat to experience the game with brad and vinny.

And you know what? Brad isn't bad at it! he's pretty good actually!

Oh man I didn't even know this happened, and I'm usually on top of the live stuff.

Fell asleep watching this live, glad to see it posted so quickly. As a side note, Brad yelling "Nooooo, MOTHERFUCKER!" is not the most pleasant way to be woken up.

Brad you can upgrade lots of curved swords and piercing weapons into a 'Crescent' weapon the same as your sword. You'd be a little short on crafting materials so you'd need to farm a bit to get it to +4 or +5.

As an alternative, you could upgrade almost any weapon into a 'Moon' weapon with Moonlightstone. It won't scale as highly with Magic as a 'Crescent' weapon, and it won't give you MP regen, but it does get a small boost from Strength and Dexterity which your weapon doesn't. You should have plenty of crafting materials for it.

when brad talks about his nerdiness he goes the longest time without healing with barely any health at all, i dont usually talk to the screen, but it was just funny to watch if the next fall was just going to kill him.

A published book catalogued in your university library still means something and more information doesn't make you more informed. Reading hundreds of smaller articles by people reinterpreting/rehashing Marx or whatever isn't the same as actually reading Capital.

Not saying that the internet isn't positive, it absolutely is, just that filtering information was always an important skill and being able to get at the source of ideas/concepts/whatever is still super important and we still need the technology of the book for that.

i don't know why, but it's aggravating watching brad play this... he puts his points into magic, then won't use magic. wtf? he walks by items without noticing or picking them up... i can't watch these anymore, i find myself yelling at brad through the screen and that doesn't help him OR me. :/

Ahh, my favorite boss in the entire game. No, not that fly-throwing joke at the end of 5-2. I just love Maiden Astraea, especially for its lore, music and general mood. It reminded me of fighting the Colossi in SoC in a strange way, where you're doubting yourself and wether you're actually doing the right thing killing her just because she stands in the way of your goal of beating the game.

Somebody please tell me: that dark silver shield, which said it had 100% damage reduction for both physical and magical attacks; does it actually have any other auxiliary effects, or was that the extent of it? 'Cause that seems like a pretty fantastic item to have picked up and then promptly ignored just for the lower guard break stat, which I'm guessing is akin to the stability stat in Dark Souls.

Seriously, there didn't look to be any real downside to that shield; am I crazy on this?

I actually finished the fight against Garl Vinland the same way that Brad did when I replayed the game recently. Desperatly attacked and got the fucker while he was trying to heal.

@roy42: According to the wiki it decreases spell damage but not magical weapon damage.

So basically seems a perfect shield for Brad's play style.

It's downside is the terrible guard break reduction until you upgrade it a few times. The problem is that it upgrades using colorless demon's souls which are extremely rare unless you mess with world tendency and look up where to find them. If Brad wants to go that route it would probably be a good shield for him but they've been pretty insistent not to look at wikis so far.

Honestly I never much cared for the dark silver shield, I much prefer a higher guard break reduction over magic resistance since I don't have any problems with magic in Demon's Souls.

Nah, it was in the sidebar. It just wasn't in the header up top that says "live show in xx:xx." Bombin' the AM was in that slot instead.

His sword scales with his magic stat. He prefers to play melee so those magic upgrades are still helping him.

@roy42: it only has 70% against Fire damage. But yeah, it's pretty awesome. I carried it with me as a secondary shield (as opposed to my TowerShield+2) incase I came across any magical enemies, but I tended to see more fire guys/dragons.

Whats the point of Brad collecting all that bad ass armor/gear only to ignore it and not equip it? Im getting tired of looking at his tired ass armor and that sword. Please spec up and equip some of that awesome gear!

He can't change the sword, ever. The moon path wouldn't result in nearly as much damage if he went through the effort of pursuing it with another weapon and he'd have to look up which weapon to upgrade in a the crescent path since you can't even do that with most weapons. He'd also have to buy 50-100k worth of darkmoon stones to make it to +4 again. A huge waste of time and effort when he can just use this sword for the rest of the game.

I would love to see Brad craft and try some different weapons. The suggestion of upgrading the Uchigatana is a good one, or he could try the Kilij. They'd both do more damage at +4 crescent. The War Scythe upgraded to Moon +4 might also do more damage.

Would be nice to see some different move sets.

Naww it's a shame I missed the live stream.. the conversation seemed quite entertaining. Middle School / High school were truly weird times. Looking back I kind of hated it, but I don't know what I'd change either

Anyhow! Gratz @brad on getting through the literal and conceptual muckpool of the game.

The dirty colossus is such a joke after that spectacular annoyance of a level ( also, try doing it in pure black world tendency to get blind, that's even more fun! )

So you're almost done here anyway, just Latria and the King... Latria is far less awful, and I think brad is ready for the maneater manticores by now.

PS: I don't think brad picked up the kris blade.. It is in the room before the armoured spider, before you activate the lift down. It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep it in the off hand as the second weapon, as it has the same effect as the ring of ... whatever magical power -do more magic dmg, get more magic dmg-...

About Uchigatana (my personal favourite) or other darmoonstoned (or simple moonstoned) weapons, I guess he could try them, but he seems to be doing fine with the falchion, and in this game.. the weapon you like, is the best weapon. It's not hard to get enough materials for enchanted +4 anyway, but I don't know if anyone would be interested in watching grinding for darkmoonstone chunks.

Try to post the "up next on Giant bomb" sooner duders, so more of us can join you o_o ( or maybe you did and i didn't pay attention, in which case.. shame on me ).

there is also a pretty strong downside for spell users, the shield dramatically lowers your magic damage. However, this does not affect your weapon based magic damage ( and you can keep kris blade on the other off hand slot to swap it whenever you do use magic ) It's true that the guard break is not great until you spend a few Colorless demons souls on it.. ( I think you need those, and they're not very easy to come by )...

@vinny Astarea's story is probably the most interesting in the game. She kinda discovers that god doesn't exist and becomes an atheist after her investigations, so she accepts a demon soul to sooth the plagued and the damned. And her bodyguard / supposed lover Garl Vinland stays by her side even though she goes all loopy.

The trip down memory lane certainly had me thinking some thinks...especially Vinny's assertion about giving less fucks re social standing, and putting more effort into his studies.

Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this happened?! Oh well can't wait to watch it when I get home.
