@Jeff I used to work for medical imaging company and also an AR company in Germany.

• First, to maintain hygiene, we've used Kinect in operating room, to control all the computer screens that shows MRI or other X-Ray images.
• Second, we have developed system that use AR (pose estimation, object recognition) that projects, again MRI / X-ray images, or any volumetric images onto patients being operated, in order to visualize the internals of the body without performing much incision.
• Third, currently the companies are using Hololens and Magic Leap for the AR projection.

Kinect, AR, VR, google glass, seemed to have gained some tractions in scientific / medical businesses more than in entertainment.

In the second company I worked in, we used AR to help in maintenance worker in navigating thru complex heavy industrial machineries.

At around 43 minutes, pretty sure you guys are referring to Ryan’s Inferno. Ryan got stuck at one of the challenge areas in Dante’s Inferno where he had to do a certain length combo and Jeff talked him through it.

Well, he thinks 9/11 is an inside job, believes the US Government killed Kennedy, thinks the moon landing is faked, and he's had Milo on his show talking about how climate change isn't real. He's also transphobic and just overall a really crappy human.

I remember watching a Let's Play of Dante's Inferno that had a medieval history major as one of the commentators. Apparently the game's interpretation of hell isn't too far off from the original text. At least aesthetically or in spirit. But I think most folks take issue with the actual gameplay/mechanics, and didn't it have real skeezy marketing?

@depecheload: He doesn't believe in those conspiracies, he's talked about this multiple times in recent years/months. He used to be a conspiracy nut, now he's realized how ridiculous most of them are, but is still fascinated by the psychology of conspiracy theory belief. He's also none of the outrageous claims you just made about him, based on the last year or two I've been listening to him.

I've never tried an MRE before, and I can honestly say that I never really want to.

I was inspired to read by a video game. The visual novel "Hiveswap: Friendsim" inspired me to read the webcomic upon witch it is based, Homestuck. It's pretty good, I would recommend it.

I'm pretty sure that "friend" Ben talks about in the knives youtube story was Max Scoville, sounds like something he would be into.

WRT game developers going into the AR stuff - of course they are: better pay, better hours, better employee treatment. You also are STILL working on something cool, but with the upside it may help save someone's life someday (even if indirectly).

BTW - I wish this and beastcast also has video, even if only for us subscribers (but really, for everyone).

Steve1989 is my MRE guy, he's incredible.

e.I should clarify, I don't eat M.R.E's, but this guys videos are awesome. The way he talks is so soothing, and it's fascinating seeing really old stuff that has held up well, he's eaten things up to 80 or more years old. Some good stuff, some seriously spoiled stuff, for SCIENCE! He talks about the history of them, what they were used for, when they were manufactured/discontinued, talks about other menus. For the history nut, it's a must. For anyone really. Top notch production quality, and the little sped up segments when he's opening things is weirdly pleasing. (nice hiss) His sign off is so good too. Most of the things (especially for units never put in to wide release) are the first and probably last time they'll ever be seen. So like how Jeff preserves video games, this guy does for MRE's. Kind of strange, by actually awesome.

The hair shampooing stuff is fascinating. I can see that you need to be told that shampooing every day is not great. Like you develop a shower habit and shampooing is part of that, so it makes sense that you tend to overdo that. Until you hear about natural oils and how too much shampoo might not be great. And you can adjust after hearing that news. But i don't see how you shampoo your hair too little.

After a shower + shampoo, my hair feels breezy and light. It doesn't stick. But after a few days, it becomes visibly greasy and i can pretty much get sticky hairstrands to sit wherever i push them. Everything about that makes me want to shampoo it again. (maybe should've done it slightly before that state even). It doesn't feel like something that i should read up about, it feels like my body is straight up telling me that it's time for shampoo.

@cimpy: The conference was IMSH 2018 at the LA Convention Center. It was definitely one of the coolest conferences I've been too.
