I was cracking up watching this because of my 10 year old's frustration at Dan's ignorance of human history.

This reminds me of Banished

All meat's good, says the man who lives off of movie theatre hot dogs and pop.

You don't get to laugh at Dan asking if the Iron Age is the same as the Renaissance when you just asked if Pangea and the stone age were at the same time.

Dan is dumb yall, and shame on Alex and Abby not being able to tell Dan what the Renaissance was.

While this game has more meat to it I found that it's lacking some of the depth the previous game (Planetbase) had. It's just a very simplistic "city" builder where you'll never really be pressed for resources. The setting is fun though.

Dan asking if male cattle produce milk might be a new low/high score for his absurd questions.

The fact that it's been a life-long question for him and he never thought to google it himself tells you everything you need to know, though.

As an archaeologist in real life, I was thoroughly infuriated by all this. Not the game though.

BC (Before Christ) is the same as BCE (Before Common Era). The latter came much later though as in only in the past 25 years and only as a result of a lawsuit having to do with the separation of church and state.

Kansas high schools really failed Dan (College failures are on him, based on all his stories).

Two thoughts on this.

1) Why is Alex stuck saying "inevitably" over and over? I had never heard him say that before. Is it a calendar word of the day thing?

2) My favourite part of Dan being weird about history is how much he exposes everybody else's ignorance, like a really, really weird Socrates. I mean, how do people not have at least a range off the top of their heads for when Renaissance is? Or how far BC would the Iron Age be? Or how ludicrously far removed that is from Pangea? Am I being weird and European thinking most people should remember those things? Would I be disappointed if we did that here? Or is US people not studying history at all a thing?

I came back here to posit that perhaps he had a bet with someone regarding how many times he could say it in a single video. I get that we all lean on verbal crutches to varying degrees, but it's kind of an unusual one, and as you said, seemingly out of nowhere. A lot of the things didn't really seem that inevitable to me...

Anyway, I guess I should be glad I don't have people examining which words I happen to overuse.

@jamesm: Oh, yeah, any given person off the street is gonna go "but ehm..." a million times when they are on camera, or finish every sentence the same way. I'm just saying it because Alex is a pro and typically doesn't, so there must be something that triggered it, right?

This seems like a really chill colony builder, hopefully the combat side of it isn't too involved.

Dan's lack of playing Civilisation as a child really shows during this. Thankfully google auto complete is there to fill in the gaps.

Truly Dan is the wisest of us, for at least he knows that he knows nothing.

Dan's ignorance has a starring role in this Quick Look, and I love it.

@pete0r: The combat is basically drag click 10-15 villagers, move them to where the enemy is approaching, win.

I am disappointed by the ratio of caveman talk to actual caves in this video.

Would love to watch Alex play more games like this, wish the crew played more games in general (on video of course).
