So if you save something with Residium once, is it yours forever, or do you have to save it again each loop?

@kopcik: We're kinda moving away from those. Might land on something updated, but for now, you probably won't see them much.

We'll see if this holds true when I play it tonight, but this game feels like it takes a lot of hints from Outer Wilds in building a time loop game.

Interestingly, you can only be invaded by real people playing as Julianna during the first few minutes of your run. Means you only have to worry about dealing with the AI version if you're in a longer run.

Appreciate the QL.

This game has a bit going on. I've gone from dismissal from the trailer or so, to thinking I will be playing this. I just needed to see it in action.

This seems to also have some Bioshock to me. The use of powers and weapons...

Also it seems to have a lot of problems on the pc. I'm going to wait for patches.

10/10 on metacritic from most reviewers. Surprised Jeff G wasnt completely sold on it yet. Looks like this will be GOTY for the crew if given the chance. Heard it hits all the points they look for in a new series.

I've had this in my cart debating on it for 48 bucks for pc all day but ... Tales of Arise might be the best game I've ever played and I feel like if I start this I won't devote myself enough to complete that game.

Tales of Arise is the most polished enjoyable JRPG I've ever played. I'm still debating if I'll buy this now or wait though as this looks better and better each time I see new impressions.

Glad to see a proper quick look, but more importantly, I'm glad the game seems to be living up to the hype based on reception. Like many people, I had my doubts because of how much the game was being built up with the trailers, not to mention the pre-order constantly being on sale for PS Plus members. Usually when those things happen, the game turns out not to be that good. It seems like not only is this game good, but it might be contender for a gaming award at the end of the year.

Count me in as one of the people that didn't really see the potential in this idea and feared that they were covering up the flaws of the game with a eyecatching Saul Bass style. But i come away from the quicklook thinking that they actually ended up with a neat thing.

I figured that going through the same levels over and over trying to kill as many visionaries as possible would get boring, but the ability to gather intel, learn the worlds and figure out easier ways to kill these characters later on has potential.Something tells me that there's a whole lot of enemy banter in this game that makes you want to sneak through all these places at least once to get all the dialog. No one lives forever is like that as well.

I do wonder how much of it is you simply figuring out what happens when, or if you actually get to engage with these characters and change their schedule up through your actions or something. Can you set up elaborate deathtraps where you eventually just sit back and watch the spectacle, or is a hacked turret or a landmine more in line with what i should expect?

I do think this is the kind of game where it benefits you greatly when you truly challenge yourself with the difficulty settings. Like if you straight up go through all these levels with the intention of killing everyone in 1 run, i imagine it would be quite hard with the difficulty this QL is on. But if you play this game as intended, gather intel, learning the schedules of the visionaries and take your time with it, the game seems too forgiving. That reduces the tension of a Julianna encounter and the usefulness of that chaos perk too i imagine. These enemies don't take much to die.

It reminds me how Hitman started out with enemies that you couldn't just run away from if they were pumping bullets in you, to it getting patched to the point where it's almost like you can just run up to any enemy and take them out in melee before your health runs out.

This might just be me but I feel like the talk around this game pre-release made sound more... mysterious than it actually is? Prey is the only Arkane game I've played but to me this seems a lot like an interesting story framing around that same sort of game.

I'm still very interested in playing this, once I can afford a PC to play it. Apparently the PC version supports the Dual Sense trigger stuff too, which is cool. I hope more cross platform games do that.

I also feel like this needs to look at least 20% more like the original XIII or a Suda51 game.

Wow I did not expect this game to be so deep after the trailers really seemed to sell the idea of Dishonored with a modern skin. Really appreciated this QL, I will definitely get this one.

There's something about the graphical style to this game that made me always assume it was releasing on PS4 as well. I'm kind of disappointed to learn it's PS5 only.

I'm so happy that we're finally getting a proper Quick Look!

And I'm also glad I came to the website, otherwise I would've missed it! Even though I'm subscribed to Giant Bomb on YouTube, I completely missed this Quick Look over there because these new YouTube video titles they're using are so generic that I just assumed it was like some sort of clip of them talking on a Bombcast instead of an actual Quick Look. Seriously, how am I going to figure out it's a Quick Look just based on "Deathloop is excellent here's what it's all about"?!

Anyway, this game seems much more interesting than I excepted. I hope they fix the issues some people mentioned about the PC port, I would love to try it out.

@chapelzero: I was wondering this as well. Did some research and it appears that you only have to infuse something once and it remains in your inventory. Phew! Might have been a deal breaker for me otherwise.

Interesting that at one point he has 9452 residuum. In the released version. In the final game your residuum only ends on 00 or 50.

@kazzerscout: What you've heard is probably only kind of right. It's not like it crashes all the time or performs at a low frame-rate for what it does. They just forgot that some PC players would want to play with a mouse. Ps4 controller = buttery smooth. Mouse control = jerky, stuttery nonsense. It's weird as all heck to see your FPS steady at over 100 and it FEELS like you're playing at 20 FPS because you're using a mouse. Weird, obviously known bug to ship with. In general, the gamepad controls are easier, but I miss mouse aiming :/

To Jeff's question at the end: I hadn't seen a second of in-engine footage for this game before this quick look, just the E3 teasers and whatnot, had no understanding of what the game was beforehand. That said, I'm a big immersive sim fan, love Arkane's games and Deus Ex and whatnot, and I have time loop games like Majora's Mask and Outer Wilds firmly up there on my top 10 favourite games of all time list.

Video made plenty of sense. Looks like Dishonored but with a time loop doing what Danny said, in kinda fixing perennial genre issues in a way that seemingly only a time loop can. I'm sold on it, game looks awesome, I'll pick this up at whatever point the rumblings around the PC version seem to get addressed. The more complicated details of exactly how time progresses, how upgrades and progression work, how various systems work and interact and whatnot, that's all stuff I can work out when I get in there. I think Arkane fans are used to weird progression systems and whatnot anyway.

I'll say that I'd probably actually prefer a ticking clock and less hand-holding, but it's probably not that big of a deal.
