Giant Bomb Presents: Department of New Business: Episode 0

I have no idea what I just listened to, but I'm pretty sure I liked it.

Dig Ben, dig Abby, but this was a super rough listen. Even more so than their E3 podcast.

In an age where there's so many good podcasts and YouTube offerings out there, a half hour of what sounds like a couple kids that just discovered their parent's tape recorder doesn't quite cut it, and was the strongest example of pure concentrated cringe I've experienced in quite awhile.

I would hope....if this continues, you guys go for something more structured as your E3 t-shirt booth sketch was one of the best Giant Bomb segments during the event and it would be awesome to see you somehow bring something like that to podcast form. Either that or have Jeff, Vinny or Dan/Jeremiah rotate to keep Ben from going a little too far off the rails.

But hey, what do I know?

think I'm getting too old for GiantBomb, I didn't get this at all. Hope others enjoyed it.

This reminds me of a podcast I did back in about 2002 with my friends when I was about These Darn Kids' (tm) age and it all makes sense and makes me happy.

Ben and Abby are awesome, but I had to turn this off after 13 minutes. I just don't think it's "for" me. Humor is incredibly subjective though and I hope it finds its audience. Always love to see new ideas on the site!

It took me frighteningly long to realize what this was, but I think I'm on board? Ben and Abby are too likable!

I enjoy the crew doing improv, but I guess I tend to like it more if it comes up naturally while they are doing other things and they decide to roll with it, like the recent Jeremiah bit on the Beastcast.

I'm always on board for silly. I think these two have good chemistry and enjoyed the listen.

This is great. It's realy silly, but both Abby and Ben are very smart and funny, and they have great chemistry together. I had a blast listening to this, and I jope this does become a regular thing. It will only get better as time goes on if it continues.

This was really entertaining. I love both of these guys.

Like some others, I appreciate that they're trying something new here, but it's not for me. The whole "improv comedy" thing has been a bit much for my tastes on what still remains one of the top two podcasts in the world, and this is just kinda that distilled. I REALLY like what Ben and Abby bring when they're featured as part of the broader team though! : )

.....Well, mission accomplished.

Basically this. Please Ben and Abby don't abuse the privilege you have to put out podcasts by filling them with nothing. Even F1 podcasts and (especially) Danswers were not my thing at all but at least they had a theme and a point. This didn't.

By contrast, when duders riff off eachother to do a 'bit' during a podcast, it works because it mixes the absurd/silly with subject matter that people are serious and enthusiastic about. It works because the audience know what the people doing the bit are actually like and what they actually think. They have a context and a contrast. An extended drama class riff might be a useful exercise (and really fun to do) but it is also really indulgent to expect people to listen to it when that's also the extent of what it is.

I don't know what this was, but it was great.

Ben's Vinny conversation tech is very very good.

I thought I couldn't get enough of Abby + Ben.

Work was hard today but it was impossible to be stressed while listening to this. <3

Ben, ya gotta go with it, man. If you stubbornly cling to whatever idea you have in mind for a bit, the whole thing falls apart.

Jeff decided to separate the people who either hate or love DKC into two departments.

I like Ben and Abby a lot but I found this to be shapeless self-indulgent crap.

Please don't listen to any of the people complaining how this is not their thing or how out there this podcast was. I loved it. More so because it was random & different from anything else on the site.

I want your girls & guys way of doing things. Not just you filtered through the regular Giant Bomb stuff like a lot of peolple on this board seem to want.

But then again, I listen to Comedy Bang Bang regularly, so I'm used to podcasts filled with nothing but nonsense.

Was this basically a half hour of nothing? I got 9 minutes in and it just didn't seem like it was actually going anywhere. If that was the point then good job I guess?

Enjoyed listening to this. Structure's for suckers. Not water though.

I don't get the point of this. A lot of people liked it, though, so that's something. Just felt aimless.

This was great, I laughed the whole way through. I am eagerly awaiting the possibility of Abby appearing on a Holiday Beastcast RPG-thing with Austin and Pat, Ben would be great too although he's on the wrong coast.

I loved this! Big fan of talk / improv stuff like comedy bang bang as well though. Excited to see where this goes
