Expansions don't carry over with the cross-save stuff, but Season Passes that you've purchased do. So you'd have to buy Beyond Light on every platform you wanna play on, but not the $10 Season Passes. Those are a 1 time buy.

Jan the man. This was really cool to see a video/stream like this again. I could see UPF coming back already.

As a Destiny fan, I don't think the new player experience is ever going to be better than when D2 launched. Jumping back in for Beyond Light, I was still a little confused about which quests were new and what to do first and I have hundreds of hours in this game. I did a mission for one of the new story characters before even being introduced and I kept wondering "who the fuck is this?" I had the same question as Jeff about the cipher.

Each of the seasons of Destiny introduce a pool of new weapons to get and a new activity to grind to earn them. RNG is still in play but there are ways to target/focus the gun or armor you want and lately even the perks that will roll on it. This season is no different but I don't think the activity is as fun as past seasons. I do like the attention they gave to lost sectors though. There is still no matchmaking for the harder Nightfalls.

I will never understand what I’m missing, I just don’t get what’s special about this game tbh. I’m not a huge fan of Warframe, just played it a couple of hours but every time Brad says “look at this this looks so cool” I think “I saw that years ago in Warframe.”

Gonna try it on the Series X maybe I’m missing something and finally understand what it’s all about (I know the gunplay is great, played Destiny 1 a lot).

@mistercoke: As everyone mentions the gun-feel is really good in the game which is something you have to experience for yourself. At least early on it is. When you get to raids and all the harder end-game stuff everything becomes such a sponge that I don't think the gun-feel really matters all that much anymore.

Aside from that it is an activities treadmill. If you want to keep up with it and be good at Destiny it's a whole "lifestyle" if you will. Do activities daily, do raids weekly etc etc.. This is how it was in vanilla Destiny so maybe they reduced the lootmill a bit in the newest expansions but from what I heard Brad say in this QL it's still very much a lot of fussing about to get that exotic gun/armor.

The live switching works really well; well done GB for figuring it out.

Perhaps a small, transparent black rectangle behind the staff names, in the bottom left corner, would help them feel more integrated into the video.

I swear to god, to an outsider like me, this video looks identical to every other Destiny video right up to the very first Unfinished GB did in June 2014. Literally indistinguishable.

You're not wrong. I played 200+ hours of Destiny 2, and pretty much.

While I appreciate what they were trying to do with the switching viewpoints, I found it seriously disorienting and actually felt a bit ill at times. In the future, I'd prefer it if they captured each individual viewpoint and uploaded them as separate videos (though, admittedly, that would be odd for a QL). I'd much rather be able to just pick a single viewpoint and stick with it. Just a personal preference, though.

You can always tell the quicklooks where Jeff has had a shitty day.

I never thought I would say this but Destiny 2 is my 2020 GOTY. The pandemic fundamentally changed how I engaged with games over the last several months, hell I can count on two hands the total number of games I've played this whole year. D2 just gave me what I needed and I'm still deep in.

I didn’t hear them mention; all of Destiny 2, including all expansions are available on gamepass.

Currently for console gamepass, coming to PC at some point next year.

As a PS5 player, I am really fucking jealous of that. I play Destiny 2 on PC and was going to download the PS5 version until I saw none of my DLC comes over and I have no intention of rebuying it.

These videos always highlight a lot of the stuff I dislike about playing Destiny with other people even though that is where most people are likely to find the most fun.

"It says I can't do that mission until I do x. Now what should we do?"
"That activity gave me the same gun I used during it, but with garbage stats."
"Where do I go to see the thing you're saying we want to do?"
"Why did that x message just pop up on my screen, did we activate something?"
etc.

Wow, that director map is so sparse now that they've vaulted so much content!

I chuckled at Brad suddenly raving about HDR, when he spent the past four years stubbornly refusing to upgrade his outdated 1080p TV.

@brad And quick and easy way to see how the Destiny 2 f2p experience is nowadays, you can start a new & free Stadia account using any Gmail address that you have laying around. You'll be in the game, fully loaded in and playing, within a couple minutes.
