Still my most anticipated game. I liked the past 3 Tomb Raiders and wasn't too sure about their new direction. But screw it, it looks awesome and Crystal Dynamics knows what it's doing. I'm in.

I didn't realise it was an origin story. I kinda liked the previous one with her as a young girl stowing away on one of her fathers archealogical boats to then get to a supernatural island and has the most darkest moment in any Tomb Raider game with the hanging corpse and that island tormenting her. I thought it was one of the most memorable and interesting part of the series so inda bummed that's the part they are re-writing. Whatever though, this looks great and the arc of Lara as a chracter seems interesting - definitely a game I am keeping a watch on.

It looks like he's imagining dirty things looking at Patrick's mouth and his mic.

He definitely says Laura and not Lara...

I just realized that Patrick looks like an elf. He has those ears, those elvish ears, fair elvish skin and obviously he's the slender, elvish body type. Everything except his hair makes him a good elf.

Ron seems pretty uncomfortable in front of the camera. Still, did a pretty good job I think.

As someone whose only experience with Lara Croft was playing a ps1 demo over and over again when I was like 8, I am actually kind of looking forward to this game.

lol scoops. Great interview, asked some really good questions. I enjoyed that he called Lara, Laura. Felt like Ron was trying to push home that it was Lara without being rude and it made the interview amusing.

Above anything else, this will be my must buy PC game of next year.

There's no "u" in Lara, Patrick. She's been around for 16 years so it's time to say her name correctly.

What do you say to a Lara Croft with two black eyes? Nothing because you've clearly beat the new Tomb Raider.

After the third time Patrick caledl Lara "Laura Croft", even after the developer subtly corrected him, I had to stop watching. How sure of your own bullshit do you have to be to continue on with your own faux pas in front of someone who KNOWS this character, even after they correct you? I know it's probably an accent thing, but it's not hard to accept that you were wrong and correct your pronunciation.

Patrick saying Laura instead of Lara wasn't that big a deal. It looked more like Ron was uncomfortable about the interview more than he was annoyed at Patrick adding a u to her name.

Sure..but there's also the fact that some people commenting here might actually be working for Square-Enix Europe and, just like the developper being interviewed in the video, actually know the name of an iconic character that's been around for 15+ years.

I mean...the guy from Crystal Dynamics actually says it the proper way 5-6 times during the interview and Patrick still doesn't catch on his mistake.

Anyway, in the end who cares, it's a small thing. It's just something that's been bugging me for years and I never even understood where people got it that she was named Laura. Her name has been Lara since the beginning and it's even on the box cover!

@katanalauncher: Those are 2 different names. Lara has always been Lara, I know Laras, and I know Lauras. Also, when in the 16 years has she ever been known as Laura? SORRY DUDE.

@charliedown: It's my own pet peeve when it comes to the Tomb Raider franchise. I guess I should have kept quiet and not voiced my 'foolish' opinions. It's not a big deal, just not something I can keep hearing in an interview without some annoyance. No point in continuing to watch something if you get no enjoyment out of it.

That seemed like a kinda of weird interview. I don't know what it was, it just wasn't there.

Now that's reporting. Loved hearing when he was comparing John Mcclain to Lara. Nice job Scoop.

You're thinking about it the wrong way. They were told to make the best game they could because Square Enix has a lot riding on this game. The franchise hasn't been doing what Square needs it to do. The previous games haven't sold or been received well enough. So Square told them to do whatever it is they need to do to fix that. I thought it was fairly obvious that it was being implied that they need this game to sell and be well received, so the developers better damn well make the best possible game they can. If this game doesn't do well, someone is getting fired/shut down.

Yea, Patrick would totally be able to keep getting interviews like this and keep his job by being a completely close minded asshole. You've seen what, 5 minutes of the game and you've already made up your mind? Video game fans are the fucking worst. Why did you even click on this video if you've already decided Tomb Raider is a "fucking piece of shit game?"

Exactly. This seems like a knee-jerk reaction from someone who was probably too young to have even played the first Tomb Raider. I mean, how dare they show Lara Croft in any sort of compromising situation. Why give her a decent reason for trying to survive when you can just throw bears and monkeys at as she traverses endless caves and cliff edges.

That dude seems so uncomfortable being interviewed. And "we were given the mandate to make the best possible game" is industry code for "we were given a massive budget and a generous development window." It is definitely the case that sometimes a studio is given a game to work on without this "mandate" and given a shoestring budget, very limited time, and is just expected to shit out an uninteresting sequel to make some quarterly earnings report.

You can see this guy starting to question whether or not she's actually called Lara by the end, or if he's just been mistaken all these years and all of Crystal Dynamics have been laughing at him behind his back. You're a real mindfuck, Patrick.

Excited about this game. It's looking great. I'm liking the trend of games getting away from over the top, non stop killing to every kill meaning something and being a struggle.

"Laura Croft" is something that completely baffles me. How do people still not know her name after so many years!

At least other mispronounced games like Recettear have some kind of underlying reason (people not knowing that Recette has a soft C), but with Lara Croft, there's nothing even resembling a 'u' in her name!

He looks like he need some serious sleep.

I've read enough articles and seen enough trailers, interviews and game play clips of this title for 1000 life times.  At this point I would like to just play the game (if it gets a positive reception, if not then I could care less). 
 
And give Patrick some slack.  I played TR 1 on the PS1, and I usually say Laura.  Possibly because I'm American.
