I was really, really hoping that this game would give me that "I need to play this right now" vibe, which Skyward Sword didn't give me, and it has totally delivered. I HAVE TO ZELDA RIGHT NOW.

I was severely bummed out by Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, but A Link Between Worlds is among the best the series has ever been, and previews sound promising. Consider me intrigued and hopeful.

I've only ever watched bits of that game, and I got the same vibe. Vastness peppered with combat opportunities/moments?

This seems like the conversations you use to have on the playground floor with your pals about the newest games. But like...thirty-something duders.

Im super impressed with what they've shown. My biggest concern is the controls not being super intuitive. I'm hoping the menus and systems are the type of thing that fall into place and feel good after spending some time with it, and the duders E3 impressions of the controls were just from a lack of time to understand them.

I don't mind the idea of having these persistent survival mechanics in the game. I see it as them replacing the towns and npc interactions with these systems that produce a relationship with the map and setting.

With all that being said, I've never really been a Zelda person. I started the two GC era games as a young teen and never finished them. This is looking to have the right knd of changes to get me to spend a lot of hours with a Zelda. And I absolutely love the art style.

Not sure I believe Nintendo doing much solely because of streamers or YouTube just based on everything they've ever done that involved the Internet ever. Game looks fantastic to me, I can't wait.

I won't ever get to play this I don't think but it will be good to see how much people have fun with it when it comes out

I am not a very big nintendo fan anymore as an adult but I hope this paves the way for a metroid game.

I'm a bit worried to hear Brad and Vinny's concerns with the stamina meter. One of the specific frustrations I had with regard to Skyward Sword's control design was how limited the sprint felt, and that game's environments were far more closed than they're implying here.

Otherwise, I hope the durability system is fleshed out in the release. It won't feel good or interesting to just run through your three best weapons every time you fight a boss. SS actually did good work with that in the early game. There were a few instances in which I decided to abandon blocking because I was worried about shield damage, but you also had to eat several hits to get to that point. Disposable shields lessen that consideration.

I feel like I've missed a big chunk of gameplay footage everyone has probably seen. Have they shown off any "main story" dungeons at all? Watched the Nintendo stream for hours and saw a lot of running around in open fields and climbing snowy hills.

Super not trying to be the guy that bags on the cool thing, or yuck anyone's yum. Point me to the cool stuff!

@verysexypotato: I don't think story dungeons have been shown online from Nintendo yet. Aonuma has said it's possible to go straight to the final boss from the start of the game and completely skip the story though.

No, they`re only showing the open world stuff for now. Dungeon and story still will be saved for later.

Just to play devils advocate here... The world looks stretched out and somewhat sparse. Crafting, durability, and I'm guessing load limits, are dated padding for action RPGs at this point. The control scheme sounds awkward as I'm holding my wii U controller. If Skyrim was fully voiced 5 years ago this game should be able to voice Link and like 5-10 other npcs. I don't think this game justifies its large open world setting as everything people seem to love about it were features found in wind waker. I feel like people buy Zelda games but never finish them.

Uh, but I'll buy it day one with an amiibo. No question.

But hey...what if the real reason for no female protagonist was that elsewhere in the world Linkle exists and is also doing badass stuff eh?

That might be cool right? Also a good reason to make a blegh excuse so as to protect the reveal of Linkle?

Seriously I want my Linkle plot in Hyrule Warriors Wii U guys...

Hilarious to hear Dan, the biggest Metal Gear Solid fan in the world, complain about controls being obtuse and complicated and having to hit a series of buttons or hold down more than one button at a time to do something.

Don't get me wrong, I think Zelda looks great and I never found any MGS controls to be complex or anything, I just couldn't help laughing at the irony.

Very promising.

The only thing I'm iffy on is taking an elevator ride down to a short dungeon 100 times. That sounds like 200 load screens for some very short dungeons.

At least during those elevator trips you'll hear news reports of what's happening around Hyrule and how your actions are affecting it.

...eh. Was holding on to my Wii U even as my Mario Maker addiction starts to fade, mostly just to see what this turns out to be. I think I may be able to sell it now, this doesn't strike me as something I'm going to fall in love with. Nice that they're trying some different stuff I guess.

Gonna be a lot more room on the show floor to record podcasts next year with Sony not attending.
