Without spoiling, how is their progress in the game? It seems like they're nearing the end quick. I have no recollection of this game

Uzzi fucking punch. I hope they beat Lavos with the Uzzi Punch while playing just enough 2 Pac in the background to not get sued.

The sheer joy Patrick and Ryan feel at finally getting Uzzi Punch makes it all worth it.

@TromboneTony: They're getting near the point where the game opens up and you have some options. Since you can fight Lavos at pretty much any point in the story, the question is having the right gear and a high enough level to win.

if they keep this up, the sun stone battle will be fun.

Yeah, I changed it to one of the reasons. But I think it's a big reason! I mean, I didn't play Chrono Trigger or P4. Most of the stuff that happens in the ER seems reasonable to me from their perspective. Sometimes they miss stuff that I didn't, but other times they get things that I might not have. Even the people who didn't play with a guide at hand have probably forgotten exactly how the game went for them.

I played through Cave Story on easy a couple weeks ago sans guide. I got the normal ending (duh) and some of the bosses still gave me plenty of trouble. If there was a comments section people would have been screamin'. Most people playing a game for the first time have to muddle through poor choices and lack of skill. If this frustrates you then the ER isn't for you.

Geez guys I realize that they sometimes get a little forgetful but you have to think about how they break up their sessions and also they have Barely died and almost every episode has story progress and their commentary and general attitude has been fantastic give them a break they aren't going for a 100% run with a perfect plan just let them play the damn game. Also this ER had me worried but it has quickly reminded me how much the ER rules and the Ryan/Patrick combo worked out Far Far better then I thought it could have great work guys.

Do yourself a favor, watch a speedrun or play the game alongside a FAQ since you seek perfection.

Yes; this bothered me the whole time. It's not super useful normally, but in a boss fight against a fire based monster it would be.

I like how they are continually progressing through the game yet people react like they just wasted hours, when it was just a few minutes, sometimes seconds.

17000 g for +11 damage and 50% more damage to magic using enemies. Also they are missing the best helms and weapons in the game right now by not having Ayla with charm. There's no way to really know this unless you use her though and just like stealing items. They are a LONG ways from having charm unlocked so unless the did grinding on the rubbles I doubt they'd ever unlock charm in time to try it on the Mt. Woe enemies.

No spoilers. I haven't played it in decades, but I think they're in the last quarter of the main story now. We'll get at least 7 more episodes at this rate, although it could easily be twice that if they wander and do sidestuff.

I didn't think Uzzi Punch would live up to the hype but it totally surpassed it.

Glorious, glorious Uzzi Punch. What a wonderful day. Although now that the "Uzi" reference makes perfect sense because that's how the special ability works I'm a bit pissed it isn't actually called that. Or go with Uziel punch if "Uzi" is a protected brand. Anyway - ER still fucking rocks!

The guy gives some good criticism. Ryan and Patrick do tend to pay less attention than the average game player. You don't have to read the dialog in a game like a term paper for sure, but at the same time this game came out well before games shoved and nodded you in the exact directions you needed to be going. So back then, there was an expectation that you were at least interested enough in the game to talk to people and pay attention when NPCs are talking to you (especially when they talk to you without you asking). I mean, if they had just payed a bit more attention, they wouldn't have spent a whole episode messing around in 65 mil BC for no reason. (Ryan has more or less admitted that they should probably pay more attention)

Either way, the original poster wasn't being a perfectionist. He was just expressing a frustration he had about the videos, and he did so in a way that wasn't mean. That's more or less why these comment spaces exist: to give feedback (both negative and positive) about the videos themselves. As long as people aren't being dicks about it than they aren't doing anything wrong. There's no reason that you need to start insulting him, deride him, and be a jerk about it.

How often the game tells them exactly where to go and they just completely ignore it is bothering me, like yell at screen bothering me.

I may be wrong, but isn't one of the garments "Cut damage" and the other "absorb damage"? Because if that's the case, they're making a mistake IMO.

The funny part to me was a big complaint before they started that Patrick would remember everything from the game from when he played it years ago and now a big complaint is that he can't remember what happened 10 minutes ago.

YouTube reports all the vids from this week were updated on Dec. 23, so I'd assume all of our suggestions are going to waste, given the one week lag.

All you of people complaining about the ER are at least better than the people bashing you. Seriously, I can understand all the comments how sometimes the ER is frustrating to watch but at least its adding to the discussion of the ER instead of just adding on an extra layer of negativity about how pissed you feel about someone's comment. I will endure the ER even though Ryan's memory is destroyed by alcoholism and Patrick is the most annoying backseat gamer I have ever heard. That's just my opinion though...

The people who post raging complaints about Ryan and Patrick not doing well are also the same people who want them to do well. 
 
Very few people who post angry comments do so simply out of spite, they do it because they want them to succeed.  
 
Even though they are missing many of the things that would help them, they haven't yet hit a wall. If at any point they hit a wall, they will probably elicit outside help(gamefaqs probably). 
 
However if they plan to do endurance runs in the future on older games like this, they really should have an outside liason on standby who can tell them if they missed something very important. Someone in another room watching who can tell them to stop, go back, and do something. 
 
This could then prevent the problem of them spending an hour or more backtracking because RPGs are notorious about the player needing to pay attention, punishing them with backtracking for hours if they fail to do so. 
 
Having a liason will also put the viewers at ease because they know there is someone there that will tell them to do something that the players will miss or forget, and they can just think in their minds that "It's ok, that person will just let them now".  Then everyone can have a good laugh at themselves for missing something. 
 
You could say that Patrick is the Liason here, but I mean someone who actually knows the games or has at least strategy guide with them. Someone who is used to classic RPGs, and can immediately pick up on what is going on.
 
The spirit of the Endurance runs though has always been to play them naturally. Though Jeff and Vinny did cheat with Persona 4 with gamefaqs.

I was kind of hoping they would intuit the trick involving the magic chests. Oh well.

I guess I just don't get why people want them to do everything perfectly, where's the fun in that?

I'm more or less amazed they are still using Robo. By this point in the game, I was pretty much done with him. He's too slow and his magic resistance is terrible. But he seems to be working out for them, so whatever.
