This has been so inspiring, I've also started watching the Deadly Premonition ER. I remember now how Vinny developed his patience by this game. Who the hell thought of the wall crawler ladies? One good use for the shottie, though.

EDIT- Okay, I see why it is short.

Please explain what has happened in this game to advance the plot. Hearing that they are halfway through with the game having resolved literally none of its plotlines is insane to me.

Good to see you guys still find things to complain about in the comments. Keep it up, community, you're super amazing.

Am i the only one that likes Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls? I've seen both movies and i find the second one has more memorable gags. It happens to be on TV a lot and i still find it enjoyable.

Murder She Wrote is a good time. I also enjoy saying murder very dramatically. Muuuuhhhrder!!.., she wrote.

@shaunk: So we find out that Ryo's dad has a past in China that's mysterious/questionable. We find a SECRET ROOM in dad's dojo with some foreshadowing pointing to this (most of them not shown in this video). We find a literally magic artifact that, if paired with its counterpart, will apparently endow you with unstoppable power. We have Ryo being tailed by a weird guy who works under Lan Di.

But okay, nothing at all has happened.

if you're expecting anything to happen, keep in mind they're just now, 16 years later, making shenmue 3, and ryo's still on the hunt for lan di.

@gregalor: Weird, maybe that's an indicator that people who normally just watch and enjoy GB content are seeing a lot of hate or just negative attitudes towards the Duders and are deciding to speak out about it ;)

I've always felt The Truman Show is fantastic but it's from so many different places. Jim Carrey is so good in that movie, but the script, direction, music, and cast are just dang stellar.

I'm not a fan of his movies, in actual life on shows and documentaries he's wayyyy off the reservation and unthinkably weird.

Shenmue - my ears are bleeding! Best dubbing ever.

I think i have also seen most episodes of Murder, She Wrote. My mom was and still is a huge fan. Going to disagree of this sentiment about it being good. It is dumb and the premise constantly causes trouble. Some of the ways they contrive to explain Lansbury's involvement in the investigation are very silly, and not in the wink and nod funny kind of way. Also she's an old woman and routinely gets caught at gunpoint by bad guys only to have one of the actual police or her male friends appear out of nowhere to save her.

@paulunga: I mean, it probably would have stopped confusion if the game ever showed the other side of the mirror; but all I've ever seen in the game when the mirrors are on screen is the side with the design, and not the actual mirror side. Somehow no one ever seems to manage to turn them over. And it's not like the game can't render a mirror.

Also I was more of a Magnum P.I. fan myself, rather than Murder She Wrote.

@kasaioni: I suspect a different word is used in Japanese to make it clear that it's not a modern mirror. In English, these artifacts really are just called mirrors, but I wouldn't call that common knowledge. I've always envisioned a museum exhibit of mirrors and the confused people walking out. @gregalor: The Japanese word used is "Kagami" (鏡), which is just the word for mirror.

@kasaioni: Yes, but the thing is they obviously don't know much about Asian culture, so why even question it being a mirror? Just because neither group has ever seen such a thing? I simply assumed it was some ancient Japanese kind of mirror the first time I played this game when I was 14.

@kukamunga: They explore that a little bit towards the end of Shenmue II. It's not super heavy spoilers but I also don't really wanna explain it in case the duders ever play that game.

As for the Phoenix Mirror, when you see the other side of the object you'll see that it does have a reflective coating (not fully, like a beauty mirror though). But more than that, there's... well, again, I don't want to spoil anything. But there's a reason why it's called what it's called. Shenmue II only covers up to chapter 6 of a 16 part story so we don't have all the answers yet, either.

Also, just a fun fact, since somebody mentioned that the game can obviously do reflections; the reflections that you see in the in-game mirrors aren't actually "reflections." They are completely separate, fully rendered model doubles of everything happening in that part and just mirroring the movements of the "real" models :)

As a kid I saw when nature calls many times before ever seeing pet detective, so I always enjoyed it more as my first Ace Ventura movie. I haven't seen either in many years, but I bet I would still find parts funny. Maybe not as much as when I was a kid

@dudelongcouch: Yes, I guessed as much. That's how I understand most pre-HD era video games to do reflections. I don't know if reflections are generally done any differently these days.

@paulunga I just find it strange the so far the game has managed to not show the other side of these mirrors once. Although if these mirrors are supposed to function like this one, then maybe the game is saving a scene for the actual mirror parts of these mirrors for some later revelation (like if Ryo shines the mirror just right, he's going to find a secret new phone number to call).

Everyone mentions the Rhino scene, but the best joke in Ace Ventura 2 is the Slinky scene.

edit... Also, Dumb and Dumber is one of my all-time favourite comedies, but it kind of doesn't hold up. So much of that movie was about defying expectations, and audiences back then had so much less exposure to that kind of comedy. I cannot overstate, if you were in a movie theatre in 1994 as I was, the ending to that movie was the blindsight of the century. You could not fathom that they went there.

I suspect that someone watching it nowadays would just find it predictable, and maybe even a bit quaint.

I really don't care for their taste in movies. Eternal Sunshine was boring, but at least I was able to watch the whole thing. Punch Drunk Love was so boring I had to turn it off 2/3rds the way through. Also, every time Ace Ventura is mentioned on this site none of them mention how horribly the transphobic ending has aged.

Dumb and Dumber is an all-time classic of comedy. It's still great today. That sequel they recently did not so much.

I haven't watched it since I was a kid but, I remember liking it a lot more than the first. There's still 3 or 4 gags from it that I remember very fondly. Oddly, none of them are the rhino birth part. When I was a kid a I always thought that part was too gross.

Another great episode. The laughs really made my day!

I use to hate Murder She Wrote, having never seen an episode, because when it came on I'd be pissed it wasn't Matlock.
