Really thought that the thing Jeff was upset for with Dan, during the Jackbox QL, was some Dan shenanigans during the Beastcast they recorded before that. But immediately learn that this was recorded after the Jackbox QL.

Is it known what Jeff was upset for with Dan and can I watch it in some GB content I missed?

awesome cast, cant believe we're nearing goty talks and have such heavy hitters and otherwise coming soon/end of the year..

My favorite surprise of the year has to be Control, it's just a good solid video game and aside from the stuff covered on previous casts i submit that it has some of the most baller sound use/music 'vibe' of games that used it as part of what the experience is. Glad there is more coming this year/next.

Years before a new console release are typically a little weak, as seen on the One X and PS4 this year. There have been some great games this year though - Outer Wilds, Control, Remnant, as well as a handful of others. Some good ones to possibly come. Great buzz about Outer Worlds, Modern Warfare and Fallen Order (and possibly Death Stranding). That said, the Switch has had a pretty stellar year overall in my opinion.

Having a greatest of all time year personally, so every time someone says it's been "weak" it always feels so weird. KH3, MK11 and DMC5 were all incredible for me, as were Fire Emblem and Astral Chain.

Definitely more that I've enjoyed than the past couple of years where I could barely make a top 5 honestly. Though them saying it's weak and being excited for CoD just shows a difference in tastes I suppose.

Also beginning of next year seems like a bunch of BANGERS personally (Crystal Chronicles and TMS#FE remasters are only the beginning).

It really sounds like Dan hates a certain game... or you know maybe some other totally non related not embargoed game.

I am upset if Dan is disappointed, I want all games to be good, but I have to say I was laughing pretty loudly when he went off ^^.

No he definitely doesn't like it. I had a lot of trouble decoding what Abby was saying though.

What's with IGN's and Giant Bomb's podcasts ignoring a major feature of the Analogue Pocket? It has a built in synthesizer and sequencer!

Calling it now, placing bets that Dan hates Death Stranding, to outright say he was harsh on Red Dead, and Red Dead has the same type of “passive” gameplay Death Stranding has and to talk about how he has time for backlog games. I’m endlessly excited for November 1st to see what reviews say.

Hot take: I think Dan loves Death Stranding while everyone else hates it, despite it being the embodiment of everything he hated about RDR2. So he's blatantly walking back his remarks about Red Dead so he doesn't seem two-faced.

Also who cares because people are allowed to have opinions. But it will be funny hearing the crew tear into him if this is the case.

EDIT: I'm wrong. After listening to the Doraemon section it's pretty clear he dropped DS quick.

@knoxt: that song. UGH I've gotta play Control again. What a great game. The endless hallway sequence (once you can navigate it) is one of the coolest game moments of the year.

This, IGN's UK podcast made it seem like GotY material, hope more people check it out.

I'm guessing Dan played Death Stranding and stopped because he felt it was not for him.

Hearing Dan (not at all) subtly get across that he hated and had stopped playing Death Stranding was kind of hilarious.

Also sad there was not more Disco Elysium. I hope others get into it, especially Vinny, because it sounds completely amazing. Little I have heard (which is enough to make me buy it sight unseen) is that it draws inspiration from Planescape Torment in terms of a non-combat focus and dialogue-driven RPG, only completely cutting out the combat parts that dragged Planescape game down. Also some very cool character development options.

Man, Dan cannot help himself and had to implicitly break NDA to let us know he hates Death Stranding. I did not think he'd like it so not a big surprise but dude needs to act a little more mature. I may also end up disliking the game but I can determine that for myself when people who have similar tastes in games as me do reviews.

Sure sounds like Dan hated Death Stranding. That's gonna be an interesting conversation. I'm betting Jeff is gonna be in the same boat.

I don't know how you got that from what Dan was saying. Sounds like he just really bounced off Death Stranding after a few hours because it totally wasn't for him.

I'm calling it now: Death Stranding is going to be the most polarizing game of 2019, hands down, bar down. I won't be shocked if it does Deadly Premonition numbers. I'm talking 2s and 10s.

@robpigott: I honestly cannot see him liking Death Stranding from what I've seen of the game (it looks real bad), but Dan is a wild card. The main reason is that I can't really discern why him hating DS would cause him to do an about-face on RDR2, that would be a consistent position of him hating the games for the same reasons.

Him going against the grain and liking DS while everyone else hates it also seems like exactly the kind of heel turn Dan would make.

Just wanna say, And I know Abby would say something like she doesn’t care, but Witcher does get better about “that” stuff, Ciri is one of the best female protagonists this generation as she’s very independent and strong and no way subservient to any man (none of the main female characters are) and in the Lore is regarded as one of the strongest beings in their universe if I remember correctly, and on Yennefer and Triss, if you decide to even engage in Romance with both of them in the same time, they find out and call you out on your shit, other than that, unless there’s a glaring side quest or something I’m missing that’s very gross or disrespectable in their treatment of women, it’s about a few notches tamer than how it is handled in game of thrones

It should be illegal to talk about talking about things you're not supposed to talk about. And it's not only about being jealous about you guys already playing Death Stranding and whatnot, but rather, you sort of hinting at it a little, it's just annoying. How about you just don't even mention it if you're not supposed to talk about it.

Hopefully Vinny covers Disco Elysium when he comes back. I'm sorry, but Abby couldn't even convey what the game is about, the genre and similar titles it might correspond to.

@nasher27: that’s how I was taking it. Actually has me more excited about it. I am going to buy death stranding day one with out reading any reviews, though based on everything Ive seen I don’t know if it’s going to be a fun game. I just HAVE to play it you know? It’s a sickness.

@nasher27: Yeah its super weird whenever they talk about The Witcher 3 having alot of "that stuff". Total, it might I have about 30 minutes spread out in that entire 80-100 hour game. Most of it you have to seek out and deliberately do.

BTW its really strange they can't talk about OuterWorlds. There is an EX from the Devs talking about it on this website. Shouldn't they be allowed to discuss the game and their experience without compromising the plot and story. just give out a few impressions

Can't wait for Death Stranding to either tear the GOTY discussions apart or be the great equalizer and everyone to shit on it.

Dan 'secretly/not secretly' burning death stranding at every turn makes me REALLY interested to hear when they can all talk openly about it.
