I was late to the Beastcast today, and the stream ended before Jeff finished his suburbia drama story. Been really interested to find out where that goes

I was listening to the audio version and had to come here to see the video when they introduced Jeff cause I thought the recording skipped an hour or something as I had no idea what that bit was or what they were talking about..

I really liked the Hitman 3 final mission. I was able to do most of the stuff I could in other missions, but without the analysis paralysis of the giant maps and seemingly endless possibilities (though I still love those too of course!)

been using the dualsense on pc since day one early stuff was pretty rough but now its good! steam has native support for all steam games (will have xbox prompts, its just emulating xinput through the steam overlay) and ds4windows has mostly functioning (motiongyro touchpad shit i never use) support if your game isnt through steam or natively supports playstation prompts and dinput

I have to disagree with Alex. The Olympics not happening in 2020 was noticed by a lot of people who cared. And I'm not just talking about the fans or the athletes, even though there were many news stories about how popular athletes were coping with not being able to compete after years of training. It was also a big deal in the gaming community, because it was going to be the first Olympics where certain video games would become competitive for medals, like Street Fighter, Counter Strike, etc.

Also, Olympic style competitions have grown in popularity over the years. Now annual championships of different sports are being shown on television beyond track and field and skating. These athletes actually compete all year around, and now they have an audience of millions viewing them. They even have their own sports channel, The Olympic Channel.

I feel Bakalars suburban pain. I used to have a neighbor who worked for the city snowplowing and he would plow out his own driveway and then block all our driveways with snow! Eventually I couldn't take it anymore & complained to the city about it. That stopped him but not without a brigade of city workers going door to door first asking who complained about it... Small towns suck ass sometimes :/

Dude, the bloodborne KS is awesome. A lot of boxes but tons of content and it is very easy & quick to play. Don't give up. Don't need to sleeve either.

100% agree w/Alex regarding Stadia and big tech companies in general; they think cool tech just being extant is enough for success and don't want to put in the legwork in tandem with it. Google threw this technology out there, and people didn't take to it, so they are basically doing a shrug emoji and backpedaling out of the market.

I feel like, maybe, people aren't getting far enough into The Medium. I thought the story was pretty good!
Makes me want a sequel!

The Olympics are an incredible spectacle of human athletic achievement and I missed them dearly. Also, the opening ceremony in Tokyo was going to be an all-timer. Alex not usually such a yum yucker.

@viralrain: Yeah, the story is actually really great, and is pretty nuanced, exploring a lot of different elements while avoiding being hamfisted about it. The setting is also really interesting, unique, and used to great effect. I thought the writing was better than 95% of games, quite far from the middling assessment they gave it.

Yeah the DualSense totally works great on PC. I've been using a fork of the DS4Windows driver by Ryochan7 to use a DualShock 4 on my PC for years and it works great with the DualSense. He updates the software a couple of times a month so DualSense support was added right after PS5's launch.

DualSense and Xbox Elite V2 are my main PC controllers.

I see that Vinny still has The Iron Grid on his brain. XD

There are a lot of people with broader interests than just videogames who have watched the Olympics every four years since we were children, and having it postponed for the first time in our lives was a disappointing part of 2020. Alex was really living up to the stereotype of the ignorant white American videogame podcaster when he claimed no one missed it. It’s a much bigger worldwide event than the Super Bowl, and I’m sure he wouldn’t claim no one would miss that if it wasn’t held.

I missed the Olympics but I'm a sports fan. I like the Summer Olympics especially too.

I’ve had 2 XB1 controllers stop connecting to anything (after warranty). I’ve had 1 XB1 controller that I somehow crunched in the left stick while playing Rocket League (after warranty). I’ve had 1 XB1 controller that ended up getting bad joystick drift (after warranty). I love the feel of those things but they’re about as reliable as Joy Cons (which I’ve had to replace 4 of due to drifting). My DualShock 4 lasted the entire generation but the battery life was terrible.

Steam playtime is accurate... unless you're talking about "idle" time (like sitting paused in a menu while you're AFK or something) instead of when you are deliberately active. But then that's on you for leaving the game open when you're not playing.

Alex claims that "no one missed the Olympics." How exactly were people supposed to be missing the Olympics? Holding protests? It didn't happen for a good reason, but it doesn't mean no one missed it.
