Quick Look: Final Fantasy VII [Switch]

This feels like a microcosm of how polarized everything has become now a days.

For sure that dialogue comes off as inappropriate and uncool. But super fucked up? Mmm it's an unfortunate oversight. I don't necessarily see it as trying to be edgy but more of just a product of the time.

That being said, I don't think its sacred or censorship or harming art to change it. Would it be better to change that to something else ie slowpoke whatever, yea. Is it a problem that they haven't changed it? I don't think so. Do you really think one throwaway line of dialogue among a sea of text in a re-release of a 20 year old game is really going to have a profound, meaningful or long lasting effect on anybody? I would probably never even be aware that was in the game if it weren't for this post.

In my experience, people who are younger and played FF7 before other FF games, like this game way more than older people who grew up playing 2D FF games

As somebody who played this as my first FF game it will always hold a special place in my heart.

There are much better Final Fantasy games you could play instead of VII. But VII is the only FF game I've replayed multiple times.

Had a badly planned final save right before sephiroth. Tempted to go back but don't have the time.

Wow, the writing seems so so soooo bad! I have never played this, but it seems to have aged like warm milk.

@bloody_skirmish: All the FF7 ports are kinda wonky, like that dumb black box around the PS4 version :x ...why couldnt they just pillarbox the 4:3 gameplay window?

I love that they picked the endless stairs scene to start the quick look haha.

8 is a pokemon game, you just throw your summon out?

Whaaaaa? i'm so confused. Because of the boost system where you get to boost it's strength a bit?

FF8 is all about junctioning magic. Not about using summons.

I don't know what to think about the quality of life options here. The speeding up & no random encounter ones seem alright, but when you straight up make yourself invincible you're not really playing an RPG anymore. It's a singleplayer game so hey, you do you, but if i wanted to play a game like that i would just keep my money in my pocket and watch a youtube playthrough for free and use the seekbar as my speed up button.
