Dead Rising 4 is total garbage and they removed everything that made Dead Rising Dead Rising. It's no wonder since they never listened to the actual fans of the game. Sad for the people who lost their jobs though.

Correct. DR1 was developed by Capcom's main Japanese studio. 2-4 was Vancouver (Blue Castle Games).

EDIT: for those asking, Vancouver did this - Dead Rising 2: Off the Record - which is Dead Rising 2 but with Frank West instead of Chuck Greene (original protagonist).

Dead Rising 2 is a better game than Off the Record and Frank West is a bad and annoying protagonist, and their going back to him shows a lack of confidence and a severe misunderstanding of what Dead Rising fans wanted out of the series

Damn I played softball against the Capcom Vancouver team this year... Those folks are super fun and nice as hell.

Being laid off without warning is garbage and it'd be great if capitalism could hurry up and end.

The Dead Rising series was a tragedy of turning something people loved into something people simply liked. There's a lesson there about not listening to the haters, somewhere.

The original Dead Rising 2 is one of my best gaming memories. Bought it during a rough period, stayed up all night playing it every day for a week. It was so good!

Dead Rising 1 is one of the GOAT (and 2 is a fine fine game as well), but at this point I would actually rather see it just die as a franchise. Of course there were many talented people at CV, but to me it was clear (especially with 4) that they hated being the defacto Dead Rising team, and wanted to do something different. Even if the series went back to Capcom Dev 1 team, I think they would feel the same way. DR1 was lightning in a bottle.

The series sadly never reached the heights of the first game again.

Playdates are by far my my most liked (current)feature second to Mass Alex, glad to see more of it. Would be great if we got it more often. Any cast configuration and any game (Siege,Besieged etc).

@so1337: The race against the clock and use what ever you can find around you and use it as a weapon was what I liked about it. I understand why people don't like them, they are pretty clunky and cruel at times. But there is nothing quite like Dead Rising 1&2

Yeah, OG DR2 was the shit. Was there any other way to play Case Zero than on Xbox? That was pretty fun and it was cool that your progress carried over.

@so1337: To some, it was a very punishing and clunky zombie game. To others, it was Groundhog Day + Zombies. Loving or hating this one had everything to do with getting into a good pace with the resets.

If you tried to do what the game asked you to do from the very beginning, it was simply to much. Instead it was best to level up on each iteration and learn all the whens and wheres of the timeline.

Seems like a no win situation when a developer is tasked with making a game certian game then getting shut down because they couldn't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Dead rising was hot in 2006! By 2010 it was time to slow down making them...not because they games coming out were bad, but because that idea had been done. They made TEN of those games in 12 years! Capcom Vancouver was given a task every developer would have failed at with an over saturated IP, that was already on the skids.

Why was it your favorite?

Dead Rising 2 is in my top 5 favorite games. This was a great stream!

I hate time mechanics in games, I played through the campaign twice and just had fun and didn't feel an artificial time crunch to do the things I wanted to. The control system was better, easier to heal and jump between weapon types, I hated Frank in 1 and OTR and actually found him funny in this one. Again I absolutely hated DR1, disliked 2, loved 3, and loved 4. The only real negative for me with 4 was the lack of campaign co-op.
