It would have been cool if the Spelunky devs had opened this game up for modding. I can only imagine the stuff people would have come up with.

The Void Trilogy is so good! I also only read that series first and it was totally fine and doable. There’s not that much overlap with the other books, apart from a handful of characters.

It has the best written pov time control I’ve ever read. So fucking goooood.

Rorie, the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett is great (and not sci-fi as you seemed to be under the impression). I'd absolutely recommend giving it a go! (Which one to start with isn't a question I feel qualified to answer though.)
