I agree with Jeff! Mass Effect 2 is one of my favourite games of all time; literally changed my life. And I believe that it could be one of the greatest games of our generation.

But you end up with at least 7 people that you can have as playable team mates... You can't expect to have that plus all the members of 2 there... writing dialogue for that many character interactions would be almost impossible... So having them still exist in a fairly large way on the ship is still great, so you could have conversations with them.

Don't copy Jeff's year old PC build, that's crazy talk. There's a regularly updated build guide called Logical Increments that is a great starting point. They calculate the best performance-per-dollar at every price point.

wow i aparently allmost got the extremist (overkill) build except for the tower, gpu. the pgu is 1 xfx radeon HD 5900 black edition 4 gb, which has pretty much the same spec as the the hd 6990. but only alittle better. cuz when i wanted to buy it i could not find it anywhere in most of western europe. the only choice i had was between that or 2x hd 6950. and the black edition was the last one in Scandinavia.

holy shit! What games do you play on that setup? Multi-monitor flight sim stuff? I´d call that "extremist" :P

Jeff is misremembering the end of Fallout 3 when Broken Stell DLC was applied. They did actually solve the issue he said it has: He should go back and watch the Broken Steel Quick Look where they actually go through it. It still says you're a coward if you did it though. :P

If you guys like Vanguard, use Biotic charge, Nova, and only two weapons. Your powers will recharge fast so you just charge again to regain shield power.

Dude, I'm a soldier an I only use ONE weapon. That half-and-half sniper rifle and assault rifle is a beast, and my concentrate power is ready to go immediately after I use it. I'm only playing on normal, but couldn't you get away with only using a sub-machine gun as a Vanguard?

@Brendan: I play vanguard and only use the Matlock Assault rifle.

I can't tell if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but the weight system in ME 3 really made using multiple weapons kind of a bad thing. Maybe it's just the way that the combat is designed (mid-range is where the fights are, camera and powers and all that) but it never seems useful to me, even as a soldier without a ton of biotic powers myself, to have a shotgun and a sniper rifle and a handgun. With homogenous ammo everywhere all you need is one (unless you're playing on insane, maybe it's different).

Any word on if there will be a cast today? I'd understand if they still need some time to settle in, but I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on what happened last week.

Can you please uphold the tradition of an early podcast? The community in Europe thank you =)

Certainly, but as you say that's Normal, things change at higher difficulties. They don't have to, some of the best runs on Youtube spam a single weapon and specific usage of powers, but it helps to have a backup or versatility.

Yeah. I've finally registered the podcast in Itunes, and I'm seeing which loads it first. Gotta get my podcast + ME3 Multiplayer grind on.

So far the best characters I've worked out are: Human Vanguard w/ Half Blast Nova and Biotic Charge and all shield boosting abilities. Pretty durable even in Silver, and it wrecks Bronze.

And my favorite to play - Turian Sentinel with Chain Overload + Penetrating Sniper Rifle. Stop em, then pick em off. It's very good at holding defensive positions. Penetrate sorts out the shield guys even if you suck at hitting the mail slot.

With the Mass Effect 3 ending, I have to disagree with the "entitlement problems" point. It's a product they bought and are dissatisfied with it. They are entitled to voice their dissatisfaction and ask the ending be changed. This is not a new concept. Bioware promised that the ending wouldn't be like it is and would, indeed, be greatly varied and take your actions into effect. When you are promised something and that product doesn't deliver, your natural response is to complain.

There are other issues of it being non sequitur, thematically wrong and it doesn't offer any type of catharsis. It's existential nihilism in a story about hope, self-determination and overcoming the impossible.

Man a bombcast @home contest would be A-MA-ZING!

Sadly i'm all the way out in Quebec so no chance of participating/winning but still it would be a very cool idea. (they would have to have audition tapes for the contest though to get someone who knows games and is at least a little bit charismatic)
