glad to hear jeff mention keits and the fgc when talking about divekick. a lot of times people gloss over the important fact (at least i think so) that this new indie darling that is getting a lot of attention sprung up from a community which has gotten a lot of bad press from the same people who are championing it and a lot of the humor in the game directly references that community. hope more people become aware of the fgc as a positive thing and that more games made specifically for the community come up out of it.

The way I see Bioshock combat (which is not unique to Bioshock, I've seen a lot of other games do this) is that it can be a lot of fun if you take advantage of the possibilities and explore the environment of what you can do, instead of you're not just trying to speed through it and kill the enemies. I think if you can ignore that sense of urgency and loud noises (the loud noises are what get to me), you can enjoy a lot from the combat instead of just seeing it as just a chore. Still, it's not the combat that makes Bioshock special to me. Just got Infinite today and I'm really enjoying it, as expected

The whole Eidos games not living up to Square Enix's expectations thing is nuts for sure, but I was reminded (via Destructoid) that Capcom considered Resident Evil 6 a failure financially by selling 5-6 million copies. By all accounts RE6 is not a game that deserved to sell that much, but even taken from a pure numbers standpoint, the idea of a 5-6 million seller being a failure is utterly insane to me.

The totally fucking bonkers thing about Square Enix is that, not only do they have bafflingly stupid ideas, but it takes them forever to release even the simplest of things.

They announced FFX HD a year and ahalf ago, and then they only now release more information saying it will be in a double-pack with FFX-2 HD. And it just makes me think, "what the fuck is so goddamn wrong with your operation, that it takes you two years to eventually release a fuckingHD collection!!" Why does it take Square years to do even the most basic things? It just drives me up the wall!

Not to mention the awful communication difficulties SE has historically had with the press and not giving out information to their own customers about what the hell they're up to.

When it takes you years to do anything, and even many of the games you finally do release are bad or horribly broken, it's not really a surprise that you end up with a 100+ million dollar loss. Kudos to Patrick on calling out their bullshit, the state of that company right now is crazy.

Square Enix is terrible, ever since that merger it seems both companies have been extremely aloof and just downright oblivious to anything as it pertains to quality products and timing.

That, and I have multiple bad experiences with their customer support. I got better support from THQ after they were pronounced dead multiple times. Each time, I get belated emails that don't actually help with critical problems as it pertains to damages to the game.

Overall, fuck Square Enix at everything they do because they deserve the hate and poor performances they get.
