Dickwolves merch?

It's for Vancouver, Canada when going north and then Vancouver, WA when going south. Time for some useless info. Both are about a three hour trip from Seattle. Or I assume, since it's about a three hour trip from Vancouver, WA to Seattle and then it's about the same distance to Vancouver, Canada from Seattle.

Basically, Mike said during one of the Penny Arcade panels that he regrets the decision they made to pull the Dickwolves merchandise. And while people can say whatever they like about that merchandise and what it represents, he's entitled to that opinion. It's hardly what I'd call boycott-worthy.

I think the problem is more (and this extents beyond the whole "dickwolves" thing) Mike's righteous indignation towards all of his detractors. It seems like he refuses to even acknowledge why people are upset or attempt to see it from the other side at all.

The whole thing is frustrating because PAX is awesome but the people who run it refuse to stop being assholes.

I'm happy to see stuff from Jeff and Patrick on tumblr and elsewhere being iffy on the Penny Arcade controversy and everything, but I wish they would actually take that into action. Giant Bomb is a big enough and influential enough outfit that if they wanted to they could totally get by with setting up some sort of "alternative prom" kind of event where they got their audience to visit them near PAX without actually supporting and attending the event itself. It frustrates me to see people speaking out in condemnation of the bullshit but not really willing to take a stand over it or make any kind of fuss.

I am very glad to see this post pop up on here. Good on you for bringing it here for more to see.

Taken out of his tone and cadence that joke, sounds like literally THE most terrible thing you can say. Louis got no backlash for that joke, granted he's pretty much in a class of 'say what you want and no one cares' funny.

The people that keep dredging up the "PA are rape culture apologists" chestnut are going absolutely mad. Not only are they failing to give proper context, but they also fail to understand how to properly parse what parts of a joke you are actually laughing at when you find humor in something. Just because one of the panels of The Sixth Slave says the phrase "raped by dickwolves" doesn't mean the joke is about rape. Its not even in the 'punchline' panel. Its not even about defending Penny Arcade because i dont frequent their site(anymore) or have ever been to their expo. Its about the internet choosing shitty targets in their attempt to push forward an agenda.

@phished0ne: The joke isn't the issue. I'm not someone who's going to say "all rape jokes are horrible and everyone who makes them is an asshole." To be perfectly honest, I have zero issue with the actual "dickwolves" comic.

The problem is Penny Arcade's response to the criticism. It said WAY more than a comic ever could.

That is fair, but its not like the either side was very willing to be accepting and learn, which in the end is what each side wanted. Mike was very hostile in the shakesvile article(it was there it started right?) but it was plainly obviously he was WAY in over his head and didnt at all understand what he was being criticized for. He was just being an internet kid, but the people on the opposite site were being just as snarky and antagonistic

Granted its been a while since i looked over the articles and timelines, but no one ever really made an honest attempt to 'talk' with him bout it, and Jerry was smart enough to just wash his hands of the whole thing, which probably didnt help much in the long run. There was just a lot of name-calling and article writing about how they are assholes. Mike didnt handle the situation anywhere in the same country as 'good'. He acted childish, but i am sure he has learned his lesson. Its just weird to me that people keep dredging it up like there is some new incident every year at PAX. The way it gets recycled you would think that there is panel every year about how rape is awesome.

So, it seems like he still doesn't understand why the shirt specially made so many people upset.

He does understand. What others don't seem to understand is that it was a joke.

Maybe comedy is just too complex for some. Where are the people supporting the dickwolves?

I really think the whole Dickwolves thing is people trying to make a giant deal out of a cheap joke. If you're offended don't buy it, but to think it is something worth boycotting PAX over is absolutely ridiculous.

Saying that Penny Arcade's style of comedy is complex discredits this. Intent doesn't matter when you're sharing a joke with millions of people.

Don't really know much about PA, but it sure seems like the folks who run it (one guy in particular) aren't great people, and so why should others want to support them?

@Brad watch out for mechanically tenderized steak, it's puncture repeatedly, and it lets all the surface bacteria go through the beef, it was on a Canadian investigative show, they're supposed to tell you when they do that procedure, but watch out before you don't thoroughly cook that steak, I don't really heed my own advice here but just a FYI.

man drew seems like such a natural now, it's kinda weird to think he used to be rarely on the bombcast. so glad he stepped up to help fill the bombcast vacancy (admittedly as best as he can given circumstances).

The seat does accumulate heat, however it isn't warmer than your butt, it is just warmer than the air. So the transition is from your standing butt being in contact with the cold air vs the warm seat.

@homeslice: On this specific issue, they could be handling themselves better. I don't think they're bad dudes. I think they're essentially good guys who have a bigger public megaphone than they ever expected, given the content of their comic. I like them, even though I think they're wrong on this (and other things Mike's said without thinking). I wish this thing had shaken out differently.

They say MS first party are rivalling Sony's exclusives, yet even Jeff and Brad only mention Halo and Forza. I don't know. I don't think that is a very strong lineup for the next 5 years or at least not a very strong basis for picking one console over the other. Or for picking up a console at all.
Am I the only one here who isn't feeling these consoles? They kinda feel like they're halfway to the end of their cycle when they aren't even out yet.
