waiting for someone to come out and just say that LA Noire just was not very good beyond the interrogation stuff and even then it the internal logic ruined the interrogations. but it never happened.

Saints Row 3 is literally the biggest video game surprise I've had in YEARS.

Wait what? Dark Souls is by a different developer? Could someone explain? I thought they were both From Software?

And it's seriously similar to Demon's Souls with a few cool mechanics stacked on top. It's as if Skyrim would've been suddenly eligible for that category by dropping "The Elder Scrolls" from it's name.

I mean, did you actually enjoy the shoot-outs? The driving? They are so bland, so devoid of anything worth of note and by the just by-the-numbers.

The games worst fault is that - for being a game a game about being a detective - you aren't solving a crime. At least I never felt I was. Instead I was constantly fighting the games internal logic to get myself through the case. I was able to get about halfway through before I had to dump it.

From hearing where the story went - I didn't miss anything.

I really can't help but feel they're overreacting about Saints Row.

From what I'm to understand, it's a different sect of From Software than the one that made Demon's Souls? I don't know. All I care about is that Dark Souls is the fucking shit.

My point was there is no arguing with someone's opinion, unless it is misinformed. The relative quality of different elements and the subjective value of those elements in the game cannot be argued between people. It's OK for people to not like the games I like, and vice versa.

I enjoyed it, you did not. I also really enjoy Phoenix Wright and this was the next best thing.

Why don't they like the term "intellectual property"? It's clearly the most accurate phrase to use. So what if they think they sound like Pachter when they use that language. People know what it means nowadays.

Gears 3 has the best use of licensed music of all time.

Can't wrap my head around the fact that some of the staff at Giant Bomb have not played all of the games being discussed. Shouldn't everyone discussing the GOTY awards have at least some modicum of gameplay experience for all the games up for awards? I know the site is run by only a handful of people but it seems silly to me that Swords and Sorcery was a nominee and yet only Patrick played it.

I'm a bit sick of Brad being a contrarian for the sake of being contrary and not really offering alternative solutions.

@jakob187: @paulunga:That was a brain fade by Patrick there - Demon's Souls was made by From Software with support from Sony (they published it originally in Japan/Asia and helped with development). Dark Souls was made by From Software only.

Best skylander is my favorite category ever....

The only conversation I really care to hear today is Licensed Song. Nobody else will have anything else to say about the Skylanders, and the Best Debut and Most Surprising are both pretty obvious conversations :P

They EXPLICITLY say at the beginning of the podcast that spoilers will be dropped like hotcakes, so I don't really think there is any room for a complaint.
