Removing cards from your deck is a good general strategy for this type of game. The starting cards are usually not that good, and with a smaller deck you are more likely to draw your best cards or get that combo set up. Thanks to whoever suggested it in the comments on the Slay the Spire QL -- I had a lot more fun with that game than I would have if I had to learn this on my own.

Funny to conceptualize conversation as a zero-sum game. I mean, what if they're right and you're wrong? Anyway, I really dig the art style and animation in this one!

Game looks cool, but watching Brad agonize over each card choice is painful.

I like the art in this one, and once I'm done with Steamworld Quest I'll probably check Griftlands out.

It was mentioned on Waypoint Radio that once this game gets out of Early Access, it'll be available on other platforms as well (including Steam).
Edit: Also mentioned by Brad during this QL, so double-confirmed.

This looks really neat but seeing the RPG elements makes me hope that there will be a less rogue-like mode where I can just keep my progress or save and reload.

Even without that though, I'm into it.

Not especially bothered by the Epic deal, but switching from RPG to card game pretty much kills my interest. Oh well.

@reversegamelan: can definitely back this, an easy way to think about it is "you have a worst card in your deck".

Like in MtG (minimum 60 cards) even if you have 68 of the dopest cards in the game, 8 of those serve your overall gameplan the least, and removing those also increases your chance of drawing "what you really dang need"

There's a reason MtG pros always build to the minimum deck size they can, and that reason is largely statistics!

This game looks so cool. I normally don't go for early access games but this looks incredible and I LOVE the conversation battles. Great video, folks.

I have zero interest in any kind of card game, but this game has some concepts I hope are getting stolen by developers doing games in other genres. Their way of handling NPC relationships/reputation seems pretty cool, also like the mutually exclusive missions and the way they seem to be doing the day/night cycle with daily summaries, which reminds me a bit of how you had to sleep to level up in older RPGs.

From what little I've seen of it, Slay the Spire didn't look like my thing, but Griftlands looks super intriguing. Everything from the narrative backbone, the world, the combat and negotiation (despite the collectible card game aspect), make this seem like something I'll enjoy.

This seems like Fallout to Slay the Spire's Diablo (if that makes sense) and I'm way into it.

Read the campaign isn't even done (no finale, dev said it's 80% done) and who knows when the other characters will be included, so I may have to wait for its official release. Looks awesome, though!

I love how Klei constantly do new things, even at the risk of alienating fans of previous titles. You get the sense that they just love videogames and want to make every wild idea come true, rather than feel stuck to one genre.

Really excited for this. I am very curious to see how this develops and would love to see perhaps another Unfinished further down the line.

@reversegamelan: Also effective in Hand of Fate

The negotiation battles are a little obtuse to me, though I see the ideas in the mechanic. Randomly reminded me of a game that I'm not sure was ever completed and was pretty widely panned called Winter Voices, where your attacks were emotional/psychological but manifested as damage.

Very cool concept and i like how it all looks, but eventually the negotiation part of the game is still very much a cardgame like any other, they just have suitable names & art to refer to a argument instead of actual combat. I think the circular layout to showcase all the upcoming attacks, core arguments, buffs / debuffs is rather confusing too. Like the icon that's furthest from you apparently is a debuff they can give you (if i understood Brad correctly) but based on the layout i would assume that it's a debuff on the enemy instead.
