Game seems neat but It seems too zoomed in for everything happening on screen.

"This game fuckin' whips ass, dude" is the coolest thing Ben's ever said.

I've enjoyed the Gunvolt games but they've never blown me away.

Not sure if I missed it or it just wasn't said--the developer of these games, Inti Creates, developed all of the Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX games, as well as Mega Man 9 and 10, and when the company first formed, the entire staff were ex-Capcom folks. So it's not -just- a case of someone deciding to make Mega Man in the absence of Capcom doing it, these guys basically were the only ones doing it in the first place!

This game looks like someone is playing with that windows magnifier stuck on. I don't think i've really ever been able to sympathize with people who say playing video games make them sick until now, but trying to concentrate on the mc while that strobing subway light keeps passing actually made me a bit ill.

I had a long thought about why I never got into this franchise, I like Mega Man, I like fast run-and-gun shooting, I like the graphics, what's the reason?

Oh right, the nearly naked loli characters.

This looks like a good game to me .

Sure, I can understand the criticism about a few character designs.

But it seems easy to skip past them, at least based on this Quick Look.

I mostly enjoyed this game but I have one, perhaps unfair, criticism of it. Game balance and pacing.

I got to the last form of the last boss before realizing that I, very much, did not understand the health system. It was only because I kept getting "one shoted" despite having full... guard, or whatever that mechanic is called.I

This is when I had my aha moment of realization that I was being a dumbass. Nevertheless that's a problem. I'm terrible at this style of game yet I could cruise to the very last moments of it despite entirely misunderstanding one of it's core mechanics.

It's a problem of pacing and balance I think. The game needed to escalate it's difficulty at a better pace and place smaller difficulty spikes throughout. As it stands the only real pushback the game gives is asking you to face the bosses forms back to back.

Even setting aside my mistake I don't think the game adequately prepares players for the final encounter. It just never asks you to understand or accel at the games mechanics before that very last moment.

Also the level design is bland and unmemorable :p

Despite that it's pretty fun. I know that was pretty negative but I was engaged enough to plow through in two sittings. Definitely worth a look if this is your kind of game. The basic ideas behind the combat are clever and it controls beautifully.

While I sort of agree, I think for these types of games you're also expected to run levels again, do the challenge modes etc. Think along the lines of something like DMC or Platinum games where the first playthrough is basically a long tutorial.

So I bought the game based on the QL, and I agree with all the points said here. Mechanics are awesome, fighting is fun, but it definitely could use a little skill ramp to teach you to hover/dodge better. It is about a 3 hour playthrough the first time, but hey, for $15 (on the Switch), that's really not bad. I would pay another $5 for another 5 levels.

While i think the game feels pretty dynamic & fun to play, this series also always feels to me like it's putting systems in place for the sake of having systems. Like the whole reload mechanic here. So you press 2x down to reload your energy juice. Why does that make the game better? It seems kind of trivial to me. And if it truly makes the game better, why not dedicate a button to this mechanic that's super important for your game?
